Heya, just a lil question.
I am auditioning for drama schools this year and i have both my monologues and my up-tempo song (i know things now), but i'm having trouble with my ballad.
I originally was thinking Movie In My Mind (miss saigon), or Maybe I Like It This Way (The Wild Party), but my singing teacher keeps telling me to play my 'type' - how i look, i.e naive, with a mature edge, but not with a playing age more than 20.
Any suggestions?
I'm a sop, but have a good belt range. And something that i can really get my teeth into.
Thanking you in advance
Hannah

I would suggest Astinishing from Little Women, but the music isn't avaliable.
How about Why Can't You Behave from Kiss Me Kate? I Hate Men is very actory and comical but it might be a bit too old for someone of your age.

All great songs with many great 16- bar sections... all audition- worthy, and soprano- ish, and with both belting and non- belting parts... And age- appropriate too, pretty much.
Taylor the Latte Boy (Adventures in Love- Heisler and Goldrich)
But Not For Me (Crazy for You)
Easy to Say (Zombie Prom)
The Story Goes On (Baby)
West End Avenue (The Magic Show)
Losing Track of Time (Summer of '42)
Hold On (The Secret Garden)
Is Someone Out There? (In the Beginning- Maury Yeston)
Meadowlark (The Baker's Wife)
Wheels (A... My Name Will Always Be Alice)
Stranger to the Rain (Children of Eden)
I Have Found (The Royal Family of Broadway)--- I know there's no sheet music, but it's so amazing, I had to include it!!
Because (The Thing About Men)

Wow, so many replies and so quick!
Thank you guys
One thing, sheet music is not a problem cus my singing teacher can transcribe anything, as long as i have a cd.
I will definately be looking into a lot of these!
Again thanks to everyone that replied,
Hannah

Two songs that will absolutely bring the house down:
1. "The Music Still Plays On" (A New Brain)
2. "Other People's Stories" (Amour)
