This is my favorite R&H and I eagerly awaited the CD which I just listened to. It is awful. O'Hara's voice, which I usually love, sounds thin and tired [please give her a role where she doesn't have an accent!!!]. Ricamora is a disaster singing those two stunning love songs and he single-handedly ruins them. The final track is awful - it has nothing of the gravitas of the stunning finale. As has often been said, Miles gives a brilliant take on Something Wonderful. Parks is very good. Watanabe garbled with weird verbal tics. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such dreck. Don't waste your money. I wasted it for you.

I think its pretty good. I don't hear any of the problems that you hear.

"Pretty good" about sums it up for me. Personally there are much better recordings of the score available. I'd recommend the Yul Brynner/ Constance Towers 1977 version over this one. And for the best sung version of MY LORD AND MASTER, hands down Lee Venora's performance on the 1965 Music Theatre of Lincoln Center recording has never been bettered. Though it's nice to have this recording in my collection, I doubt I'll listen to it that much.
