"HA! Legally Blonde is number 5 in capacity (94.23%)."

...and is one of the least expensive tickets on Broadway. A little perspective please. Last week LB's average ticket price was about $59, the week before I believe it was less than $40. In comparison, last week Spamalot was at 77.1% and made more money, as did Curtains at 86.3%. Capacity isn't neccesarily a good barometer. There are many things that determine successful shows.

As for GG, it isn't the best show I've seen this season, but LB isn't even the same league. LB lacks the one thing GG had plenty of...substance.

Whether or not the ticket is expensive (StageFan2) or the public is going to see the more well known or popluar show (wickedfan) I was addressing the fact that jv92 stated that Legally Blonde was a waste of space... clearly it's not! The theatre is full! Also wickedfan, I am all for maturely critiquing shows. Be as mean as you want, but it's just uncalled for to hope and pray for a show to close. Here's an idea jv92... just don't go see it.

My point being that you can fill a theatre every night selling inexpensive tickets, if the show doesn't make money, it will close. That's not to say LB won't recoup and make money. There are too many other factors to consider besides butts in the seats.

As for jv92's post, unemployment is a fact of life among actors. If you read his posts he tends to be very straight forward in his opinions. His choice of favorite shows would indicate LB is not the type of show he navigates toward. He has a right, so chill...don't go "calling people out" over such harmless comments.

jv92, feel free to correct me if my comments are inaccurate. I promise not to 'call you out'. legally blonde for best musical 2007!!!!!!!!!

I understand the vitrol for "Legally Blonde"-- I have it myself-- but I find it astonishing that many of the people bashing it seem to love "Curtains," a show that's nearly as lame and vacuous. I know we all love Kander & Ebb and our dearly beloved Pierce and Monk, but c'mon....

Once again... whether or not the tickets are expensive or inexpensive, people are still buying them. I'm sure there are plenty of shows that the public wouldn't even pay $59 to see. I realize there are many factors that go into the success of a musical, but "butts in the seats" was the one I was focusing on... problem? As for the unemployment factor... I know too well about that suject. Yes it happens very frequently, but that doesn't mean it's not a hassel and a heartbreak when it occurs. The fact that someone would wish that upon that talented group of people, I feel is disgusting... no matter how blunt or straight forward their opinions may always be. These are my opinions and I have a right to express them so don't tell me to chill out.

PS Excuse me for not doing my extensive research on your lovely jv92.

""butts in the seats" was the one I was focusing on... problem?"

No problem, next time clarify your focus so there's no misunderstanding what you deem important. Your post btw was fine with me until you added your immature PS. So as for my lovely jv92...that's a foolish comment. I don't know jv92, I certainly didn't research him. Obviously this discussion (and I use that term loosely) has become a lesson in futility. You get the final post. I'll not respond. So have at it.

I will take the final post... thank you so much StageFan2! How dare you put words into my mouth! I never deemed "butts in the seats" the important factor. It was my personal focus... not the end all be all. Also, I'm glad you approved the first half of my post. I was getting worried! I'm sorry you found the discussion un-important (maybe you shouldn't have stuck with this thread for so long) and I'm sorry you felt that comment was foolish. Funny... I feel the same about you!

PS (oops... too immature, right?) Thank you for the lesson... very valuable.
