Posted: 5/19/06 at 12:20pmI am not one to knock a show in workshop process. However, I at first thought that this would be a terrible musical. But I would be curious as to see how it turns out. I am also curious as to see how First WivesClub turns out to be a musical. THAT seems like a great idea. Bring back Midler, Fonda, and Keaton?

Hawn, not Fonda. You're thinking of 9 TO 5. :)
It's interesting to think that Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler all sing, isn't it? Three awfully good sets of pipes. Why not?

Posted: 5/19/06 at 12:35pmI have heard a couple of the songs writtin for this show, sung by Kerry Butler...and they are actually pretty good. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Don't knock it before you see it for yourself.

Hmm... There's a Fonda in First Wives Club? Are you referring to Goldie Fonda perhaps?

All I can say is, the lead has to be really, really strong. Like a 22 year old Kristin Chenoweth (who would have been perfect and still could be since she could pass for 22. Well, okay, maybe not.) Laura Bell Bundy never struck me as having a strong presence. All I've seen her in was Guding Light and she didn't exactly blow my doors off.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 8:11pmThe workshop cast right now is extremly strong and are all Bway Veterans. I def. i agree that to judge it even before it has been open is way too harsh. Im sure Les Miz was not done in a weekend. There was an old video of a rehersal of Millie that def. is not the same Millie that everyone saw. These things need time to develop. Jerry Mitchell is an amazing choreographer and will do wonderful as director. I think this friend of yours is judging WAY to early. It is even supposed to play SF till Jan 2007 thats more than 4 months. GIVE ME A BREAK!

that has some information about casting. Though, per casting notices, they're still looking for the right Paulette and some other character whose name i can't seem to remember right now.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 8:41pmI see that Richard H Blake is in it. Would he would leave "The Wedding Singer" to do this or is he just doing the workshop?

Posted: 6/12/06 at 8:48pmi hope it works out for Kate (Shindle) she is extremly talented and this would be a nice break for her. Also, Leslie in the role as Serena would be a hoot. That woman has an amzing comedic flair
