Rock Of Ages Review (10/2 Preview)
 Oct 3 2008, 09:05:28 AM
If you are looking to have your face melted with awesome 80's rock tunes (Journey, Bon Jovi, Europe, ect...) and great performers, Rock of Ages is the show for you. It's not your typical musical...it's in-your-face rock with a hilarious book on top of it.

Dennis Dannheisser (Dennis) is Jack Black's clone in this show. He is funny as hell, and the dude's got some pipes. His love duet of "I Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon with Mitchell Jarvis (Lonny), is one of the many highlights of this show. He also had some great shirts (Hooray for boobies was my personal favorite)

The ensemble was one of my favorite parts of the show. The dancing girls are ridiculously sexy and they made it hard to watch anything else, not gonna lie. Nicely done, ladies. Call me.

Lauren Molina (Regina...pronounced like va...nevermind) and Wesley Taylor (Franz) were hilarious in their supporing roles, as was Will Swenson (Stacee Jaxx). Will is a sight for the ladies in the audience...and for you guys, if you're into that. He's got a hell of a rock voice and great charisma...funny too.

Constentine (Drew) actually suprised the hell out of me in this performance. I had seen him in other shows and just was not impressed, but this show was made for him. He does a hell of a job with these 80's rock songs and his acting has even improved since The Wedding Singer. He had some really good moments in this show.

Stealing the show, in my opinion, was Kelli Barrett (Sherrie). She had it all...she was sweet, innocent, beautiful, and had a bad-ass side to her, which is sexy as hell...not to mention the versatility of her voice. She was great with both the Rock and the pretty ballads. She can call me too

Overall, the show was very well done and it was a different night out at the theatre. If you are offended by language easily, go to The Little Mermaid or get the f*** over it. Prepare to have your balls rocked off!

Benefit concert ideas
 Sep 23 2008, 06:24:36 PM
Hey guys, I need some help! I am currently trying to set up a benefit concert of some sort and I need some ideas for certain organizations that you would like to see money raised for. also, if you have any ideas as far as different themes for the music in the show, throw them at me. As you can see, it's not organized yet...but it just became a thought a few hours ago because I'm going out of my mind with boredom from not doing any shows. So, if you have ideas, let me have them! Thanks!

re: Bat Boy...thoughts?

I absolutely love the show. I have played the role of Bat Boy twice and I have directed it once. I have seen some horrible productions of it though. Toronto and a community theatre in Ohio...and they were BAD. You have to be careful with a show like this because if you try to go to far with the jokes that are already in the script, it won't go well. I would like to see a touring production start up...maybe even the movie that never went passed pre-production. It could be interesting.

re: Casting Yourself In Things You Direct?
 Mar 25 2008, 03:53:04 PM
I have done it once, and only because I was already cast in the show when the director got a new job in a new city, so the artistic director of the theatre told me to do it. It was the second time I played the role of Bat Boy, so I already knew the role...but I also had to do some choreography, lights, and a few other things...and my assistant director just didn't show up during tech week. If I didn't have a shaved head at the time, I would have pulled all of my hair out. I never want to dire
re: Going to NYC Monday...advice?

Thanks, Frogs. Do you know which of these do student rush and lotto? I know Rent and Q do lotto, but I'm not sure about anything else. Also, of these shows and the current casts...which would you prefer?
Going to NYC Monday...advice?
 Mar 22 2008, 05:28:14 PM
I am going for the day for an audition and I would like to see a show...but I know Monday is a pretty dark night on Broadway. What shows would you suggest seeing that actually play on Monday nights?
re: If 'K-Fed' gets on Broadway before I do...

I can understand that. I mean, yeah, he's a better person for the way he handled the whole child situation...but it doesn't make him a good performer. He road Brittany's coat tails into fame, he released an album that was considered a joke to almost everyone in the industry, now he's thinking Broadway. I usually don't have a problem with stunt casting...even if it is just a chorus role, but he is not Broadway material.

You know songandanceman, I usually say the same thing about other celebrities that do Broadway shows...just give him a chance...but this is one that I'm just not ok with. K-Fed is a bum who should never be on any stage, let alone a Broadway stage.

Yeah...but then there's the jail thing. Which for someone my size, would not be fun.

I got rush tickets for Spring Awakening for tonight's show! I got there at 9 and I was fine. The show was absolutely incredible. I would get there around 8 though just to be safe. I believe Jersey Boys does a rush as well.

Does Rent do a student rush? I'm trying to go see Anthony and Adam later in August

Brian Flemming told me that Michael Alden is no longer producing the film

This is a direct quote from an E-mail I recieved from Bat Boy co-writer, Brian Flemming this afternoon...

"if an "announced" movie takes too long to
get made, IMDb does remove it. The movie is stalled in development/casting/financing right now, and I don't know when it will pull together."

Bat Boy movie?

I know there have been talks of a film version of Bat Boy the Musical directed by John Landis...but it has recently been removed from IMDB. Anyone know what's going on with it?

Rent Casting question

Does anyone know if the whole "wannabeinrent" thing still exists? A friend of mine sent a headshot and resume last year and got a call to go audition for the national tour. I was going to send my stuff in, but the website doesn't work anymore so I can't find the address to send it to. If anyone knows about this, please let me know. Thanks.

"CATS is fun. It's a horrible show, but it's a good workout...and is also great to make fun of while in it."

It sure is. I had a great time DOING the show...but I had a better time making fun of the material while rehearsing :)
