I saw on amazon.com that next month they will re-release les miserables the dream cast, in a 2 disk special edition set. I can't wait til it gets released :)

Was the original release a single or double disc and will this be worth buying if you have it alreadly?

The original release was on a 2 sided disk. It didn't have many features. Hopefully this re-release will have some special features

The UK had a two-disc re-release a couple of years ago, and British friends who got it said it wasn't anything special. But I believe it had some behind-the-scenes stuff, which may be of interest.

The British re-release a few years ago consisted of the concert on first disc and the 1988 'Les Miserables - Stage by Stage' documentary on the second disc.

I have a 3CD set with a complete libretto from 1990 that used 50 artists form the various companies in the major cities. If you can get this, it is spectacular. It's called Les Miserables, The Complete Symphonic Recording.

The description on Amazon says disc 1 is the concert, disc 2 is 'Stage By Stage.'

It'll be nice to have the concert on one dvd at least, not that two-sided nonsense!

I don't think it will have anything special. I have VHS of "Stage by Stage" and the concert DVD, but I'll probably still get this edition. If you haven't seen Stage by Stage, it's really neat and interesting!

I have the UK 2 disc release with the stage by stage DVD. I just play it on my region free DVD player. It's actually a pretty good documentary though the numbers are outdated.

I also have the region 2 release, which contains the same features as this release, and it wasn't anything special, other than it's just nice to have on DVD.

To be honest, this isn't new news...poeple living in Philadelphia/Walnut Street Theatre subscribers got an offer for this a while ago (I think in November). But anyway, I had the Stage by Stage VHS and it's somehwat interesting, but I do believe they mention that they can't wait to see how many people will see the "movie in 1992," several times.

Stage by Stage is a documentary on Les Miz filmed for the BBC with interviews from the creators, show clips, and two or three full filmed production numbers.
