bryan, it's not being "released". It's being "distributed". There's a difference. They are distributing sharply discounted editions of this CD at lower-priced venues.
Roxy, it was a real pleasure to meet you at the CD signing that was held on Sunday night. I had no idea the Gaiety Boy-Lesk had such a spacious lobby! Did you get Lansbury to sign your CD? She was just sitting down as I was preparing to leave.

This post isn't sarcastic, it's downright rude. The wonderful cast of Lestat really doesn't deserve the constant sarcasm of the Broadway community. Live and let die. It's completely inconsiderate for such idiots as yourself to continue to be mocking this unfortunately unsuccessful show. I hope that one day you have a show you love that proves to be more of a disaster than Lestat was. Shame on you.
For cryin' out loud, it's just theater! The way you're reacting one would think we were discussing casualties in the Iraq war or something else that really mattered.
Don't worry, most of Lestat's wonderful cast has moved on to other projects, and I really doubt any of this is hurting their feelings.
BB882, oh puhlease.
If Elton and company had written a better show it would still be running. And if he really cared about it, he would have be rewriting the show during its preview period.

Bryan, I hate to be a bother, but did you see Lestat, Good Vibrations, Ring of Fire and so forth?

That wasn't you, Roxy?
I guess every heterosexual man wearing a flannel shirt and baseball cap looks the same. Sigh!
Are you sure it wasn't you? His wife spoke fluent French and was quite charming.

bryan-
I understand where you are coming from (sort of), but what good do you think it's going to do by posting it?
Do you think it's somehow going to get people to make the cast recording?
If so, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but- it's not happening.
I hope that one day you have a show you love that proves to be more of a disaster than Lestat was.
Tall order...
To Dolly
I do not wear flannel shirts. Maybe it was David Wright
Isn't there an organization that creates archival videos of all Broadway shows? I remember reading that there's a library in Manhattan where by appointment a video of almost any show that has opened on Broadway in the past few decades can be watched. I haven't been able to locate it by Googling.
Techeverlasting, I think you might be thinking of the library at Lincoln Center. Unfortunately not all shows are recorded for their archive.
I think that's what I was referrring to. It would be interesting to know if Lincoln Center recorded Lestat, as well as other famous flops like Carrie and Dance of the Vampires. I do agree with Bryan's premise that flops should be preserved for posterity, although I think it's unrealistic to expect a record label to want to invest money in a failed show.
Personally I've given up on trying to put together a psuedo Lestat cast album from those mini CDs they were giving away in boxes of Count Chocula. I just could never get a box that had a "Die Right Before My Eyes" disc, and I got sick of eating that stuff.
I can only hope I'll have better luck with the Pirate Queen/Lucky Charms promotion next year.
Thanks for the laugh you guys, This thread is AWESOME. I can't wait for mine to arrive with all the perks and the nude pictures of Jim Stanik as well as a used tissue signed by Elton John.
I agree with what people were saying here. The cast has gone on to bigger and brighter things. BUT I had no idea that all Boradway flops had albums out. I can't wait for my copy of Ring of Fire. Anyone want to trade it for some In my life songs?? Limewire perhaps???
Ps. I see that there is at least ONE Panarophile inhere. They must be in their hidey-hole posting illegal videos on Youtube.com.

Really? I thought they recorded everything. How is it determined what they record?
Better idea is release on CD the hundreds of cast albums already recorded in the 60's/70's/80's & 90's

I just found out about a website that campaigns for the release of the cast recording for Lestat. I thought that might interest fans of the show.
http://www.releaselestat.net/
Citation from the website:
"Show your support by passing out (and wearing) Release Lestat wristbands. Ordering information is available at the Forum. Also, much thanks to the Release Lestat street team for passing out flyers at the Broadway Flea Market".
"There may be two more addresses for the letter-writing campaign coming soon. Have your stamps and envelopes ready"!
Does the term "beating a dead horse" pop into mind?
Personally, I think the CD would have sold well. Hugh Panaro has a lot of fans. Plus, there are a lot of vampire lovers out there.
All Elton had to do was release it & sell it in his store @ Caesars Palace. It would be a great seller
That would work too!
I think that alone would recoup production & release costs
