Hi everyone! I'm a senior in high school trying to come up with a good quote for my yearbook. I have a few ideas but I am really drawing a blank here... does anyone have good lyrics from a show about graduation/ cherish the times/ looking forward to future type of thing? I know it sounds cheesy, but I don't know how else to describe it...
Thanks a lot!

I'm thinking Merrily We Roll Along might have some good stuff. But at the moment I'm not able to conjure any specific ones up. "Our Time" would be good.

"Let me hit the stage I wanna take my bow, cause Mama I'm a big girl now."
Good because as a senior you are a "big girl" and getting out of the house.
"Burn the bridge, bet the store, baby's coming home no more. Not for the life of me."
Here is a link to a thread that had a ton of senior quotes:

from John and Jen..."Theres a beautiful place waiting for you, There are wonderful things you'll get to do. Out there, Somewhere, about to be discovered. Trust your heart and each new day will show that every goodbye is hello."
From Carousel, "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
the song is really nice and you can look up the rest of the lyrics if you want to
How about a quote from "Bring on Tomorrow" from FAME?
We have arrived
At a moment in our lives
When the future passes into our hands
We will find out
Are we really strong enough
To fulfil what the future demands?
We can stand on the edge
And look out into space
And be awed by the wonders we see
We can all make a pledge
That the whole human race
Will become what we want it to be!
Bring on tomorrow
Let it shine
Like the sun coming up
On a beautiful day
It's yours and mine.
We can make a difference
It's not too late
Bring on tomorrow-
I can't wait!
Long, long ago in a world
We never made
We wew children
Who were making believe
Closing our eyes
We were travelers in air
to a land we would not want to leave
But this fairy tale land
Fades away as we grow
And we all have to say our goodbyes
And we now understand
That this world that we know
Can be ours if we open our eyes
It might sound cliche but I love the Rent lyrics: "There's only us, there's only this, forget regret or life is yours to miss, no other road, no other way, no day but today" They're rather nice.
If you are looking for other stuff, the song "Old Friends" from Merrilly We Roll Along is great.
"For Good" from WICKED is great for graduation.
"Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."
However I always like:
"Tomorrow, today will be yesterday."
Which isn't from a musical but I like it anyway. :-P

i like For Good too..
how about "Friends" by Michael W Smith...its a contemporary Christian song so they mention the Lord...its a beautiful song and i was asked to sing it for a college graduation.

I was also going to suggest YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE from CAROUSEL because of its context in the musical. The melodic strains fill the air at his daughter's graduation, as Billy Bigelow whispers to her ( "Believe...")... and then goes back to polishing stars.
Sondheim's OUR TIME sounds a good choice as well.

Michael W. Smith is fine, my school is Christian, so almost everyone uses Bible verses as their quote. That's fine, but I thought i'd make my mark one more time as that theatre girl and use a musical quote! lol... I like all of these ideas! Keep them coming, and thanks for that link to the other thread.
Does anyone have any more suggestions that aren't Wicked or Rent? I like them both (know every word to them both...) but they're common quotes among people my age, even non-theatre buffs.
thanks so much!
It's a little but metaphorical, but how about:
"Into the woods it's always when
You think at last you're through and then
Into the woods you go again to take another journey"
Check out "Altar Boyz" or Kristen Chenowith's last album. She's very decout.
"i believe" from altarboyz
"for good" from wicked
"only for now" from ave q - "each time you smile it'll only last a while, life may be scary but it's only temporary"
all i can think of right now
depends on what your going for - but part of "corner of the sky" from pippin might work too

how about no one is alone...since into the woods was brought up...
or i feel pretty..or what do the simple folk do, or i feel pretty??! hahahahah!! (dirty dancing) just kidding. i am goofy tonight.
how about "something's coming" from west side story?! does it have to be syrupy and ballady?
No, it doesn't have to be syrupy or ballady at all. Something's Coming is a good one!
Who ever put up bring on tommorow ---- it is a graduation song....but it is just so bad! "Unfortunately Carmen couldn't be with us...she died one month ago today....of a drug overdose....THIS IS FOR YOU CARMEN! we will ALWAYS remember your name." ---- sooooooooooo bad.

sorry for the double post, computer is spazzing out :)
for good, my friend and i sang it at our graduation. people teared up. it's a good one.
you have to look at "the hills of tomorrow" from the original Merrily we roll along. the setting of it is just amazing, and the context is actual students singing at their graduation. it can only be found on the OBC, not the revival.
"We'll Have Tomorrow" (the deleted song from LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS):
"We'll have tomorrow, trust me it's true. We'll have tomorrow - we'll get through. Clouds will be parted - sun will shine bright."
i agree about Fame. I saw it, and it kind of made me want to throw up a little, lol.
