Mobile tickets are just that. You pull the tickets up on your phone and they will scan at the theater.

I don't think you'll have any issues! You should be fine. If it doesn't scan, they'll type in the bar code.

That is what mobile tickets are. Frozen is one of the few shows on Broadway that actually uses mobile tickets. I've done it for a lot of tours though. Just make sure your phone is charged.

OK, well, it's an option available to the producers to decide, and a tiny number of shows, compared to all of the concerts and sporting events Ticketmaster sells tickets to, have chosen to use this feature so far. That should be pretty bulletproof. ![]()

They should pay people to see this sh*t show.

"That is unique to this show. Most shows let you charge whatever you want, in either direction. Of course, to recover what you spent, you typically have to mark it up $20 or so, since they add fees onto it."
That's really untrue for Broadway shows. At least 5 shows on Broadway right now do not allow you to resell your ticket at their loss. More shows will follow this model. It's not "unique" in any sense of the word.

Isn't that the problem though? Why should I be able to sell my ticket for whatever price I want? I have no right to a profit here.

How is it their loss? If I already paid regular price for this ticket, and I can't go, they already got full price for the ticket. Why can't I take a loss? Seems strange I can sell it for $2,000 and that's fine, but if I want to sell it for $80, I'm breaking the rules.

Well, because once you purchase the ticket to the show, NY state law afford you the legal right to resell it, since it is yours. The issue here is the reverse, though. If you pay $150 for a ticket, and the market is less interested in the show than you hoped, and you can't find someone willing to pay more than $150, then you can't sell it through Ticketmaster? Only StubHub?

The sad part about that is that it excludes most people from live theater. Most Americans can't afford face value, much less scalped prices which makes me sad. I get that it's a business, but I also feel like everyone should have the opportunity to experience great live theater. But because something is really popular, lower income people will never get to see it which is a shame, and keeps theater feeling kind of elite if that makes sense.
As for tickets you can't recover costs for, that's kind of the gamble right? When I buy a car I don't expect I'll get all of my money back when I go to sell it. No one wants to take a loss, but it's a risk we take when we buy something. As for where you can sell cheaper tickets, I'm not sure which sites let you do what. It would be interesting to learn more about how all of that works though!

OK, but if people can't afford regular price, it seems like scalping isn't really the problem, since it just raises the price higher than the one they already can't afford? Most shows have lotteries, rush, and rear mezz seats that are affordable.
The problem with affordable tickets is the opposite of premium seating. Premium/scalped seating is meant for people to pay more money for not planning ahead at all, whereas cheaper tickets require a lot of planning ahead, since they sell out quickly for a lot of shows.

I completely disagree with whats above....
If you want to see it on a certain date, with certain people, and PLAN IN ADVANCE, you're often stuck facing higher ticket prices.
Cheaper Tickets require LESS planning ahead. Grab them on the day of the show with Rush, Lottos, TKTS, sometimes Stubhub, Etc.
I am not going to get a ticket for $40 or less to ANYTHING broadway 6 months from now.... but I can get a dozen $40 offers for shows TONIGHT.

Thanks, lightguy for the tip. I've been joining the lottery the past few weeks and never thought to check stubhub. I was able to get center mezz tickets for $42 (fees included!).

Yes, but what you are calling higher ticket prices are just the regular ticket prices.
Your version can be true, but it doesn't work for sold out, high demand shows. Technically, Frozen only has high priced premium tickets left for most shows this weekend. So, that means no TKTS, winning the lotto, or paying less for PV rush tickets. So, it's pretty sold out.
The only reason people can see Frozen for less is scalpers buying more inventory than the demand is supporting, which was impossible to know when regular priced tickets were still available.
So, there is no way to predict getting a good reduced-price seat in advance, so if you want to see a show, regular price is still a better option than rolling the dice.
