That drawing is gorgeous. It makes me think of what the show would look like as an animated film.

I've tried to draw Clara before, but it was during class and didn't go so well. The show's costumes are very inspirational for us artists. re: missing The Light In The Piazza!

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

The Light in the Piazza was the most moving, yet at the same time entertaining, shows I've seen in a long time.
Of course I miss it.

I just read the book again the other week. Updated On: 5/18/08 at 08:55 PM

For those of you in the Boston area, Speakeasy is doing a production of The Light in the Piazza that opened last Friday (9/19) is running through 10/18. I haven't had a chance to catch it yet (I'm hoping to go in a week or two once I can find a date that works), but I have always enjoyed Speakeasy's productions.

More info on their website:

And a review in the Boston Herald:

The director of Speakeasy's production (Scott Edmiston) is a professor/ administrator at my college and is amazing. It's sure to be an incredible production, and I'll try to catch it this weekend.

We're getting it in the UK finally next spring! Yes, I have to go to Leicester but hell, it's only... two and a half hours away by car. Marvellous! ^_^

Everything I've heard about the Speakeasy production has been extremely positive. I got a chance to listen to Dividing Day through the end of act I during Saturday's matinee, and it sounded great. I hope to be able to see it!

OH MAN. I was just surfing BWW forums and wondering why there wasn't a thread of my great love, LITP and boom! saw this one.

The closest I ever got to it was the PBS recording but absolutely loved that one and cant wait to see it in Leicester next year.

I think it's a lovely musical

I cannot listen to the CD right now, I'm afraid it would make me sad it isn't still playing with the original cast.

However, the real question is who is TotallyEffed and why hasn't Sardi's hired him for their new caricaturist? Whoever Sardi's has been using since the great Al Hirschfeld is just making them too "pretty" and lacks the verve, individual style and humor that is present in these, even though they are rough sketches. They do capture something in the personalities with a certain observance.

Great going TotallyEffed, whoe'er thee be!!!

The Prince Music theatre in Philly will also be producing Piazza from Feb. 21- Mar. 22 of '09, that is, if the theatre is still in business.

keep a look out.

While I agree that the new Sardi's artist sucks, I have to point out that Hirschfeld didn't do charicatures for Sardi's. His work was feautured in the New York Times.

I MISS THIS SHOW, and I loved coming out of the theatre and seeing the fountain
at Lincoln Center ..... one of these days all the construction there will be finished
and it will be beautiful once again.
