ok, why is it that Nine is taking until next december to release... and Fame, which hasnt even STARTED filming has an earlier release date.. i mean, i know there are editing reasons and such, but is Nine THAT much more complicated to film?? or are they waiting for a holiday season?

Deadline for Oscar consideration is late December which is why most major motion pictures premiere after Thanksgiving and thru the month of December.

Past Oscar winning movie musicals: DREAMGIRLS and CHICAGO were released in late December.

I had heard that the release date for Nine was changed to 9-9-09. Though that may be just a rumor.

Fame started life as a gritty oscar winning movie, then became a camp TV series which ran for 7 seasons (though it was axed mid way through season 2 in the states it played to huge numbers around the rest of the world), then it was turned in to an even camper musical which has enjoyed mass success around the world (it played in the West End for 10 years)

The new Fame is a 're imagining' of the original film, it will probably be less adult than the original film

The film is not going straight to TV as its a pretty big studio film and has a theatrical release date in sept next year

you say its a re-imagining of the original film... i think not
according to the article posted on broadway world it is not
"The musical, which is what the new film is based off of, differs greatly from the original film and contains almost an entirely new score"
