Madamex2- Yes it is. He performed with Heather Headley for an Equity Fights Aids concert two years ago.
I adore him. And I'm proud of it.

Has anyone said History of the World Part One yet?
If so...ignore me. I'm entirely too lazy to read all five pages.
But IF the movie is ever made into a musical...I want to play the role that doubles as "Faggot"!!! That is a dream role!
Too bad Madeline Kahn isn't still around.
She is a true comedy legend.

How about American Gigolo: The Musical?
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Waiting for Guffman!
I wrote the first act of a musical adaption of "Arthur" and I quit when I found out that Godspeed did a flop version of it. Should have checked first!

I suggest two movies made decades ago that just beg to be musicals (catch them on TCM): "The Uninvited" and "Portrait of Jenny."
"And the postman sighed as he scratched his head, you really rather thought she ought to be dead..."

Here's what I want to see...
Chocolat
Harlem Nights
Shag (however, with the dismal reception of Good Vibrations and All Shook Up, I think Broadway may not need a nostalgia musical about the late 50s/early 60s)
Bullets over Broadway (wasn't this rumored to be in the works?)
Moonstruck
Roman Holiday

I think Ridley Scott's Legend would probably make a good musical. Adding songs might make it a bit more affecting.

I didn't read the whole thread I'll admit, but I think that the movie Big Fish would be a great musical. It's so abstract and fun.

Robin Hood:Men in Tights! That would make a great musical and Mel Brooks created it(I think. I know he directed it though) and there are good songs in it too.
I agree with The Princess Bride. That would be a good musical.
Newsies(I hear that's already happening though)
The Hobbit(Is that being done? Or maybe it's Lord of the Rings that's being made right now...)

Princess Bride is an amazing suggestion and Adam Guettel is already working on it! I am really looking forward to seeing how his lush music style will mesh with this fairy tale story. I think it could be brilliant.
I also like the Pleasantville idea. I'm pretty sure it was talked about on this board a year or two ago with people discussing the unique opportunities for lighting and set designing as the characters' world went from black and white to color.

I know this is a rather obscure movie, but I have seen it a lot lately.I think the The Heavenly kid would make a great musical. It has a great story with an interesting twist to it and would work perfectly to music.
