I am looking for a musical theater duet for dance. The girls are 10/11 so nothing too grown up! I have read through so many posts! We want something NOT done, DIFFERENT, cute, funny, quirky! It can be from an old movie, new movie, broadway, tv show or movie, animated movie, or just a normal duet that is cute and different!!! HELP!
Thanks!

I'm going to guess that the girls aren't going to SING it, just dance to a recording of it.
How about "How the Other Half Lives" from Throroughly Modern Millie?

Does it have to be from a musical specifically? I once saw a very good tap dance to "Devil Went Down to Georgia" featuring two girls.
What I think would be beneficial for us to know is what style of dance this is for. Jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical etc?

They aren't singing it. Just dancing and kind of acting it out.
I did see the song How the Other Half Lives" from Throroughly Modern Millie and it is definitely on the right track! Thanks!
The type of dance is categorized as musical theater. I guess it is closest to jazz, but with LOTS of personality and attitude!

A Couple Of Swells from the movie Easter Parade.
Love this! I was going to say I love Judy Garland! I am trying to find a duet with 2 females so that one of the girls doesnt have to dress like a boy. But this is a great one!!

Posted: 7/22/10 at 2:06pm"Up the ladder to the roof" from Everyday Rapture may be cute...and since its a new musical that has already closed, I doubt that it will be used much on this year's competition circuit. I danced on the competition circuit for 10 years and I'm a choreographer now so feel free to PM me if you want to talk further and I can continue to think of music suggestions.

Sorry, I was a little confused. Wasn't sure if this was something they were going to sing a duet to while they were dancing.
"How the Other Half Lives" would be a cute and appropriate choice for young girls. I think something from Chicago might be a little too old for a 10 or 11 year old, because nothing about the show's choreography/score screams "cute" or "quirky."

Thanks guys!!!
I agree with millie_dillmount about Chicago. Although I LOVE it, it is probably not right for these girls.

I'm going to agree with Up The Ladder To The Roof - Everday Rapture, it's a song that's quirky and has attitude written all over it to dance haha
Like Zis/Like Zat - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? although it is a male and female duet...
My Strongest Suit - Aida? Although it's not exactly a duet, it's deffiantely fun, and quirky haha
or maybe a song that everyone knows, but wouldn't think would be in theatre, i.e. 9 to 5?
just suggestions...feel free to throw them back in my face haha

Thanks for the ideas! I agree with the idea of a song that is not necessarily theater! If we found the right song we wouldn't care if it was theater or not! As long as it isn't really popular!
Thanks!!!
