Are there any of them that you would like to see?
Personally, I'd love for Wicked to be made into a movie with the original leads because no one else can compare!
Avenue Q just because I love the cast album and I'll never be able to see it live. They could do it so you can't see the puppeteers, like Sesame Street or Fraggle Rock.
Side Show and Ragtime... I wouldn't mind to see Wicked or Avenue Q.. heck any show..
I second 'Ragtime'!!!

I honestly think Taboo would make an amazing movie! (But I'm on the biased side) but only if you had the original cast, tightened up the book, and got someone like spike lee to direct.

You'll be happy to know they are in talks to make Wicked into a movie with Idina and Kristin.
I think Side Show would make an AMAZING transfer to film. But, Alice and Emily would need to play Violet and Daisy...nobody else can sing as beautifully together like they can.
It's already been mentioned by many, but Ragtime. That could be so beautifully filmed. We would probably be the only ones to go, but surely some billionaire needs a loss.

sweet smell of success with the original cast

A while ago, there were actually talks of "Avenue Q" being turned into a television show with Bobby and Jeff as executive producers. I wonder what happened to that?

I fifth Ragtime... I also think Wicked would make a tremendous movie, especially after seeing clips of the show with Stephanie. However, I realize that if that'll be turned into a movie, it'll happen after it goes off Broadway.

Whadaya mean "after it goes off Broadway?" They did Chicago while the revival was still enjoying success and that's not closed.
"ragtime" would be a great choice to film.
i know it's been "in the works" for awhile and tim burton's name is attached to it but does anyone here know if the big screen version of "sweeney todd" will ever get made?

Miss Saigon. Think of the evacuation scene how amazing it would be. I think the best scene in it would be finale though, just the thought of how real they could make the wound and how horrific they could get it. Imagine how more effecting it would be if Chris were trying to stop the blood or something and he was getting hysterical and Kim was just accepting it... welling up at the image i've just written!

This is all IMHO...
Yeah, but Chicago's been done before. Everyone who goes to see Chicago is already familiar with the storyline, the songs, etc. Wicked's a relatively new show, and the producers/directors/people in charge have tried to keep the secret. I mean, obviously theater nerds like myself know what happens, but the majority of random people who go see the show get a surprise. I doubt they want to ruin the surprise by releasing a movie. The only reason movies like Producers, Rent, and Chicago can be done are because people are already familiar with the storylines.
On a side note, I definitely agree that Miss Saigon would make a tremendous movie.
I hear they are making Mame with Cher and Whitney Houston, but with the diva's rehab that probably won't happen... I would love to see Spamalot reworked into a movie... it seems to be so much better thant he original movie even... I think the music and SARA RAMIREZ alone make it leaps and bounds better.

I'm bumping this because I love this topic so much.
I think a movie would drive everyone to the theater to see Wicked...it would become even more nuts if thats possible

A "WICKED" movie... surely it's too soon? The West End hasn't even staged it yet and surely they'll want to milk as much money from the stage show before they set about boosting it's popularity with a film?
Ok lets see how about
WICKED
AIDA
Hairspray: the broadway version with the broadway songs
Sweeney is most likely happening, but Sam Mendes is attached. He has some other projects to do before Sweeney, but there is a script written.
