I second Les Misérables and sixth Ragtime
They're not going to make a movie version of Wicked until it starts declining in popularity a bit... once the hype is died down and another big hit show comes in, then watch out for it.
As per the original topic, I don't know. All of my favorite shows have already been made/are going to be made into movies (i.e. Once Upon a Mattress - alright, it's made for TV, but I'm still really excited!) or wouldn't work well as a movie (i.e. Assassins.)

Sorry if it has been already, but...did they make Crazy for You?
I think so... for TV a few years ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Though I'm not sure how all it various from the stage show, I haven't seen it.

I agree Miss Saigon and Wicked. What about Lucky Stiff?
Batboy would make an awesome movie!
Jera
Ooh, Miss Saigon would be cool... I didn't much enjoy it onstage, but I think it could make a great movie.
I have always thought that CABARET needed to be remade. I love the original Minelli version, but I think a movie set to the same script as the revival would be just amazing. It's my favorite show of all time so I am a little biased.
Personally, I think INTO THE WOODS would fare well as an animated movie. If Disney helmed it (and hopefully didn't ruin it) I think it would work very well with families. It's something that the whole family can enjoy...but who knows?
I also think that LA CAGE would make a great musical movie. But, I believe there is one in the works. I don't exactly know what it's status is right now. I think it's still being mulled over.
Oh my gosh... Into the Woods as a cartoon Disney movie?!! That would be HILARIOUS...!
Could you imagine the acotrs they'd get to voice Into The Woods. It would be hilarious!

lamentingenvelope: Thanks! and sorry.
1. Les Miserables...no contest...I can just see "A Little Fall of Rain" on film right now.
2. Sweeney Todd - The terror would just be tripled, it would be fantastic...and to hear that sore played by a 100-some piece orchestra....
3. City of Angels - It probably would work better as a movie than as a stage show (which is tough, because it's a beautiful stage show)
4. Ragtime - would be a magnificent film.
5. Miss Saigon - MADE for cinema.
6. Parade - It needs to be brought to the masses...the beautiful score and heart-wrenching story.
7. Crazy For You - If they can pull off the Producers, there's not better or more accessibe song-and-dance show out there.
8. Follies - The spectacle would transfer well to the stage.
9. Titanic - It's easier to keep track of a lot of characters in the intimate spectrum of film.
10. A Little Night Music - see above.
11. Passion - The dreamlike quality, i think, could be transferred easily to film.
12. Sunset Boulevard - Written about the movies...and based on one...ummm
13. Wicked - It could work.
14. The Light in the Piazza - Still thinking about this
15. Into The Woods - Again, easier r keep track of characters plus wide appeal.
16. Chess - It just would, ok?
18. I Do! I Do! - Ummm see above.
19. Jekyll and Hyde - It'd be scarier and it'd give them anothger chance to fix it's problems.
20. The Scarlet Pimpernel - Epicness...I think
Honk! would be a fantastic animated film.
Remakes:
42nd Street - It needs a layer of new polish
Kiss Me, Kate - The book of the stage show is terrific, and the stage PBS version is sooooo much better than the MGM movie and ti could work really week.
Man of La Mancha - The old one sucks and it could be sooo much better
