ok, im sorry this is long, but its my first review here, so please read it!
first off, for the first time in my theater-going life, i was late for a show! my bus was supposed to pull in at 1:20 which would have given us plenty of time to make it to the theater, but instead it got in at exactly 2:00- which was enough to give me a heart attack. we walked in during the middle of "it sucks to be me", and the audience was already in hysterics. luckily, my friend and i sat on the end of the row, so we didnt have to be the jerks who go, "excuse me, sorry" and make everyone move while the show is going on.
the entire cast was present, which was great. i have to say that j-tags really stood out. i dont know what hugh jackman did for that tony, but it must have been something great to beat him. secondly, i hate the fact that ann harada didnt get a nomination, she was histerical, and what a voice!
i think one of my favorites was "everyone's a little bit racist", its just so clever and very well performed. the great thing about this show, for me, was that i had heard a lot of the jokes in the songs many times from listening to the cast recording, and yet i still cracked up when i heard them on stage.
the energy was fantastic, and it felt like there was a real connection between the audience and the performers (they had us in the palm of their sometimes furry hands!) during "for now", we all clapped and screamed for the george bush part. and when the lights went out at the end everyone leaped to their feet.
afterwards i got up enough nerve for my first stage door experience. i got my program signed by six of the seven cast members (the one who didnt sign, i must say, was pretty rude, and walked by everyone and pretended we werent there, even though we clapped at their enterence from the stage door. i guess they were just tired, but that didnt stop the rest of the cast from signing). tartaglia and jenifer barnhart were the nicest cast members, and talked to us about the show and everything. i congradulated them on their (now, im sure of it...) MUCH DESERVED tony win!

no way, ive seen them both and my vote would have gone to Q in a second
Q deserved it. And we've had this discussion about 10,000 times. New person-this is not the thread to pick a fight
i just pmed you, i dont want to be the person who starts saying things like that on a message board. for all i know, this person had a crisis and couldnt stop to talk. perhaps they usually do, i dont know...

If there ever was a hypocritical statement...
Once again, a delightfully insightful statement by wickedfan330. Keep 'em comin'!

Nice job, NYState.
It must have been an exhilarating day between the drama of getting to the theatre, the energy in the house once inside, and the thrill of getting 6 out of 7 of the performers signatures afterwards. Even the lone holdout will burn an image in your memory that will color the next time you see him/her on stage or on screen or in a casino. LOL.
Glad you had such a good time. Cheers!
Jose'
And you need to learn how to make an intelligent post.
nystate - could u pm me who didnt sign - i'm interested as well.
thanks, jose', i had a lot of fun.
im going back for college orientation at the end of the month, and i think i may skip some of the **** they'll make us sit through and sneek down to the theater district to see a show. what the hell, orientation isnt important, right
! anyway, judging by this overall experience, i think i'll do some more stage-dorin' in the future.

I beginning to think that wickedfan330 is actually an inteligent poster who we all know and love but has given himself a new name and personality to satirize on other WickedPosters. I mean, i myself have had loads of fun reading everones response to Wickedfan330s asinine comments. Im thinking its MargoChanning.
Generally whenever I've been there Natalie doesn't sign. I've met her, once, and she was very nice but she usually runs out of there as fast as she can. Many times before people are even out by the door.
It wasn't really a guess, it was more of a "probably" since I've been around there either after shows or walking by from other shows and she never stops really unless you kind of pounce on her when she comes out or theres a huge crowd and she needs to fight her way through it.
I love everything about Avenue Q with one small exception.
I hate the underwear song. I wish they could give the guy a better song. It is embarrassing.
All the others songs i love though.
Thats funny, my friend thinks that is the greatest song in all the world. I don't know why but everytime she comes with me she loses it during that song.
i wonder why. it just comes across as so rude when everyone else in the entire cast stops and signs.
I agree Corine I think they should give him a better song in addition to "Not Wearing Underwear Today"
