I would welcome any advice. My brother happened to purchase tickets a week ago Spider-man for Tues, Mar. 15th, which as of two days ago we just found out has now become OPENING NIGHT (needless to say, we were thrilled). Now he just received an email from Ticketmaster stating: "Attention ticket holder! We just learned that your upcoming event has been canceled:
Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark
Foxwoods Theatre
Tuesday, March 15th at 8PM"
with options for swapping or a refund. This is outrageous! Does anyone with experience with their policies know if they can get away with this? (I presume they're trying to free up blocks of seats now that this night has become important for "important people", etc.!!)
Thanks for any help -

Yes. This happens all the time. They have every right to cancel a performance for any reason, and this just so happens to be the opening night performance.

But the performance ISN'T cancelled - just my tickets ..
Anybody that bought tickets for that performance will get the same message. This has happened the previous 2 times the postponed opening, and then they had to re-open and sell that date again. It sucks, but it happens.
No. The 8:00 PM performance is cancelled. The new, opening night performance is at 6:30 PM.
Actually...it has been. YOUR tix were for the 8pm performance of Spiderman. Opening nights begin much earlier so that there is time for parties afterwards. The show will likely NOW begin at 6:30.
EVERYONE that held tickets for that evening is in the same boat as you. Does it suck? Certainly, is it legal? Certainly. You have no recourse.

Of course....there is no guarantee that 3/15 will be Opening night either...not at this rate.

True ...Actually, we have an ultimately happy outcome (under the circumstances) - my family just spent a couple of hours on the phone with Amex and Ticketmaster and managed to get the 3 remaining orch. seats for the day-after's 2 pm matinee (!)...thanks to everyone for their input!

Exactly...I would NEVER go to the matinee the day after opening night.....everyone will have been drinking late into the night.

Hey, we're just happy to have gotten seats while my family is still in town! (that was the only possible alternate date/time besides our original opening night tickets, and there were just 3 orchestra seats left )...But I hear you and it should be interesting...

In the instance that a patron visited the Foxwoods Theatre and paid cash for their ticket, how would they be notified that the performance they were to attend has been canceled? I seem to recall that when THE SEAGULL changed it's opening night date, the show did not change it's 8 PM curtain time nor refund tickets previously purchased for this reason. Sitting through a three hour play plus an opening night party late into the early morning hours after a full day of work, a joy!

maybe you'll get an email saying that your tickets have been re-issued when they move the opening again. lol "Sorry, just kidding, you can have your seats back."
