But she wasn;t playing Elphaba. So she could be considered.
They don't have to be there at Tony time. They just have to have been there this season, and they have to be contracted for at least 6 months. And the tole must have been eligable in the leading catagory the first time around.
Ok, I have a question: maybe I'm reading the rules incorrectly, but why isn't Harvey Fierstien eligible?

If Charlotte is eligible and wins - I will cry.
I LOVE that woman.
Harvey isn't eligible because he started his run LAST season.

i think harvey can't win because fiddler is closing in january

The rules do not say the performer must have joined in the current season. They only say the performer must be contracted for at least six months, and still be in the role come voting time. Harvey would indeed be eligible, but the show closes in January, making him ineligible.
They have also said that a lot of exceptions and bending of rules will be made as this is the first time they give this award.
I know all name submissions will be considered.
I hope Charlotte is nominated and wins.
Oh, ok. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Well, if Charlottte is eligible, then I'll go for her.

So the Bean would be elligible, too, right?
That sucks that Lauren wouldn't be elligible, but if Lisa Brescia takes over whenever Maria leaves The Woman in White, she should walk away with that award.
I'd love to see Megan Hilty win it.

harvey has not been deemed ineligible at this time.
the committee said that they would review cases of actors entering in previous seasons on a case-by-case scenario since this season was the first season of the award.
the ruling on his eligibility has not been announced.

Dear god, could they make the committee make this any less confusing to everyone (possibly including them)?

i have a feeling the category will be less confusing after this first year.
in addition, i have another feeling that the category might even be far less star-studded than people first thought it to be.
although producers will certainly be eager to nominate those stars who were contracted to stay for six months, the nomination committee isn't star-struck by all stars - usually only ones that received strong reviews and/or received strong reviews for previous productions.
my guess is that performers such as hugh panaro and charlotte d'ambroise would have received nods (or wins) had the award been created in a previous season.
but we shall see...
The Shosh rocks. I think she deserves it. Megan Hilty though is also very good.

I honestly think Meg hilty deserves it. She is fantastic in the role. You'd think it was written for her, she is just so natural.
