Yeah, I read it. Actually I am now in my tuxedo, welcoming patrons, having a drink with the mayor and flirting shamelessly with Adam, who flew especially for the premiere to Smalltown after my invitation. He just invited me to his room to show me some of the movie's dailies !!!
We are soooo threadjacking here !

Some people believe that one of the biggest hoaxes to ever be perpetrated on the theater-going public, is the suggestion that they actually changed cast members over the years.
Guys like these wits at Musicals 101 aren't buying it.

"As with corporate musicals, the independently produced Rent was reproduced world wide with the precision of a photocopy. Its simple set, bargain-basement costuming and rudimentary staging could be re-created or packaged for travel. From New York to Tokyo, blonde-dyed male leads wrapped their bare biceps around curly-haired Mimis as their head mikes met in an identical kiss. Staged at one-fourth the cost of The Lion King but charging the same ticket price, hefty profit was assured. Critic Ron Lasko commented –
'I have nightmares every time I see the new ad campaign for Rent that features an entirely new cast of actors that look and act exactly like the original cast; its like some B-Horror movie version of itself, "Invasion of the Rent People.'"

I may be a RENThead, but this is one of the funniest and smartest things I've read in a long time !!!

Would you care for a soda incendiary??
"Someday I'm going to have a baby and I'm gonna name her L'il Mimi Marquez and I and will sing to her every day and when she's a toddler I will say "L'il Mimi Marquez, clad only in a bubble diaper, will perform her famous play pen handcuff dance to the sounds of breast milk being pumped!" ~Kringas

God bless you Greekmusicalfan. It's good to see a RENThead who has a sense of humor.
I too appreciate a bit of witty snark even when it's at the expense of a performer or a piece that I love.

Thank you Tennessee, I love and appreciate humor at anything even if it's on my expense or at the expense of something very dear ! And my definition of a Renthead is someone who adores the show, its message and its music, not someone who faints at the very mention of the name or screams abuse at anyone who has a different opinion !

Posted: 6/29/05 at 9:04pmThanks for all your answers to my question. :) I absolutely love the show and can't believe I wasn't that familiar with it before. I've been hitting up the movie blog every couple of days to get updates and I think it's going to be great. I love Tracie and Idina together. I think they make a great onscreen couple and just from the trailer and they little movie snippets on the blog, I think they are going to be great. Can't wait until Nov 11!
