Neither do I. I honestly think Sutton would be an auful Evita. I second SJB as Fanny Brice. I also think Shoshana Bean would be a great choice too.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Hunter Foster as Mark in Rent
Danny Burstein as Max Bialystock (He's not as "big" as the typical Max, but I think he could definitely pull it off)
Sherie Renee Scott as Julia in the Wedding Singer
Beth Leavel as Muriel in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

And a random thought: could Sarah Silverman pull a Stephen Lynch and be in a musical weith LOTS of comedy, ie Avenue Q and Wedding Singer?

I'm waiting for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to come to Australia so that Anthony Warlow can play the John Lithgow role. I think it's perfect for him, he has the suave thing down and he's really hilarious so he could definitely handle the comedy.

ok, don't flip out anyone, but...
I think listen to the OBC recording of into the woods
Idina Menzel in a few years would makea fantastic Witch, its in her voice, plus she is quirky, comanding and slightly dark, and she is also hauntingly beautiful. In a movie version of it she would rock.

Raul Esparza as Jamie in Bright Lights Big City (with Mano Felciano as Michael? C'mon, the resemblance is KILLER.)

Helen Mirren as Desiree in ALNM

I'm not sure how well she can sing, but I think she'd also be wonderful as Mame. She has a joyfulness about her that's underutilized.

I think I'd LOVE to see Kelli O'Hara as Kathy in TL5Y. She is so versatile that she just did an ingenue then a leading lady, so why not Kathy? I think it would be a great change. I can't imagine her singing any of the songs though.I don't know if she's MADE ofr the role, but I'd like to see her. Plus, who would be Jamie?
See, with Celia being cast as Eponine, I thought that was amazing. I can almost hear "On My Own" in my head.
