Dan Futterman as Jimmy in Last Five Years or George in Sunday in the Park with George (if only he could sing, of course. I am not a dumb person). I mean, for Jimmy, it fits him so much. He's an actor, a writer, sucessful and a Jew... though he doesn't have a lousy marriage, which I hope he won't.

Also, Liza Minnelli as Mama Rose in Gypsy.

I'd love to see Angela Christian play Joanna in the recently closed revival style of Sweeney.

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

def NOT saying saying this would necasserily be THE perfect role, because Sherie was already basically perfect in it, but I do REALLY have the desire to hear or see Idina as Cathy in Last 5 Years. I KNOW the acting would be out of this world, and I think the songs would really fit her voice well too! And norbert would still need to play jamie!

Laura Benanti as Christine in phantom. Seriously, how has that not been DONE already, anyway!? lol. oooh and Laura as Cosette in Les Mis too re: perfect roles for stars OMG, she'd be soooo amazing. Cause like, she's such a fantastic actress that I bet she'd even make me like cosette!

Felicia Finley as Maureen in RENT.. OR in the forbiden broadway version of it :P But seriously, she'd have SUUUCH a kick as take me or leave me. omg.

I don't think Idina Menzel as Cathy would work at all.

I said a while back that I think Felicia Finley hsould play Maureen in Rent. That would be beyond perfect.

Which Phantom do you think Laura should be in? I would say Yeston, only because she's already recorded "Home," and it's gorgeous.

Robert Cuccioli as the Phantom (in either version).

No, Idina Menzel wouldn't work in THE LAST FIVE YEARS because the whole point of her character is that she is supposed to be a "Shiska Goddess" = i.e. a very non jewish looking WASP.

ooh, thats true, I never really thought of that haha! I mean she doesn't look THAT that jewish, but she def doesn't look.. NOT jewish lol

I dont know, like I said, it was just an idea re: perfect roles for stars I just think that as a character, Cathy is right up her ally. But again, Sherie's just about perfection anyway!! so its all good :P

Amy Spanger as Reno Sweeney in ANYTHING GOES? I don't know much about the show, so I could be totally off base.

OOOH amy as Reno! GOOD call!!

ugg, once again, being the idina obsessed person I am, I've def had the desire to hear idina do Reno too (for the record I swear I dont pick idina for EVERYTHING, its just I've always loved the idea of her as Reno, Susan from ttB, and now Cathy from last 5 years haha).. but amy would kick some major butt too! And actually, thinking about it, Amy's voice would fit Blow Gabriel Blow better because she has that INSANE lower register. Ooooh would she sing the shiot out of that song!! hehe.

so, now I officially NEED to hear:
1)Felicia sing Take Me or Leave Me
2)Laura sing Think of Me (or any other song from phantom really)
3)Amy sing Blow Gabriel Blow.

All right, thats it, those are the jobs I've got lined up for the cast once Wedding Singer closes! Get on it, ladies! re: perfect roles for stars

"but I do REALLY have the desire to hear or see Idina as Cathy in Last 5 Years."

That would sound terrible.Idina's voice does not fit Cathy at all. I think Laura is beyond being a replacement such as Christine in Phantom. She would sound good but, she should have done it earlier in her career.
