Hello I am going to see the phantom of the opera new us tour when it comes to my city and I was wondering if anybody who has seen it can tell me what the difference between that verson and the broadway one is?
I am going to interviewing set designer Paul Brown sometime this week for BroadwayWorld in Raleigh, so I should hopefully find out some interesting tidbits.
It's the same show, but it has a modified set design to be able to tour more easily.
I don't recall the differences (I saw Phantom on Broadway about ten years ago, so I don't remember) except I think the chandelier on the tour fell faster than when I saw it in NYC.
I saw the tour in Boston and thought Christine, Raoul and the Phantom lacked chemistry, so hopefully you will have a much better experience than I did. When are you going?

Bunch of posts here. If you want to wade through them. http://desertedphans.forumotion.net/t467p540-the-broadway-production-us-tour
There are complete differences in sets and staging. Don't go into the show expecting an exact replica of what is on Broadway right now, because I promise you won't be getting it.

Most of the costumes are the same. The songs, characters, and music are the same. The sets, props, staging, and direction are all very different. Everything from the chandelier down to the music box has been revamped and completely changed.
