Really? Cause she has different political views than you?
And yet you expect them to pose for pictures with you?
Wow.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 12:42pmI definitely think that they needed to take the picture with her. First of all, her husband is the problem, not her, and second of all, it's good publicity for the show, and second, no one has to like the president, but everyone has to respect the office.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 1:11pmI think JLT will bring out a different facet of Glinda's character. She doesn't have that cute quality that Chenoweth does, but rather a more regal kind of look.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 1:11pmI don't think that you can say that she lacks the cute quality: you haven't seen pics of her in those scenes.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 1:20pmI didn't say she couldn't pull it off, I imagine she can. But I don't see her as cutesy, period. Chenoweth doesn't STOP being cute.

Haha, I like how broadway.com made a big grammatical error. Don't they have proofreaders or anything?

1.) J-La is the cutest thing in the world. I think cute is the number one way to describe the woman. She does look very regal in that picture... she's gorgeous, no doubt, BUT... she's got a big baby face and is QUITE the mugger. The cute eliment will surely not be lacking in the role.
2.) The High C comment was absurd. Everyone has different voice types and different ranges... for the MEZZO that J-La IS, a high C is GOOD. Not everyone is a coloratura soprano... and just because they don't have a high E doesn't make them any less capable than the next. In fact, I'd rather listen to J-La's voice any day over Cheno's.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 1:26pmThe problem with the C is not her ability, but the part. The part was written for Kristin's range: the fact that Jennifer can't do some of the stuff that Kristin does to make it amazing is scary. That's not to say that she can't be good or great, but it does cause some pause as to her ability to do THIS role.

Agreed.
Wasn't the part written for Chenoweth herself?

Posted: 7/20/04 at 1:47pmAs was mentioned in the interview, Cheno's high notes were optional. She added them in herself. J-La will be able to do the role just as well, even without being a coloratura.

for example.
if you open it up through Internet Explorer or i suppose Netscape works the same, go to View, then source. it should open a window with HTML code. dont worry, its not difficult. scroll down to about the middle of the page and just skim real quick until where you see the caption for the page. it should be around there. or once you open the source under Notebook, search for "site images" and it should work.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 4:25pmJennifer looks absolutely beautiful. I could not be any more excited about her in this role. I think she'll be wonderful--she most definitely looks the role. There's also a pic of Joey McIntyre as Fiyero in a plyabill article. He looks good in the role. Very young..and I will say, Jennifer and Joey both look 20 times better for there roles than Kristin and Norbert.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 4:35pmJust b/c they're optional doesn't mean they aren't part of the show. Look, I'm not saying that JLT isn't going to be great b/c I don't know that, but when you see Wicked that's what you expect. She can do other things to make up for it, yes, of course, but it is a potential issue. The role was not written for Kristin per se, Stephen Schwartz said that he wrote it with her in mind. Originally, he did it for a belter, but she said she wanted to get to be a soprano, so he made "Public" Glinda a sop.

Posted: 7/20/04 at 4:36pmI think Norbert was too old looking to play the college student Fiyero, and Joey will be more realistic looks wise. JLT will be harder to pass as the college Glinda based solely on those pictures because she has an older look than Cheno. Cheno could easily pass as a college student, and also the mature adult Glinda. Both casts looked great, I mean come on they're all very attractive people. Only peeve is that Norbert looked too old for the college age Fiyero IMO.

I do love how performances are now not even reviewed in advance via television rehearsal footage, but by production stills.

"Calm down children. This is about showing the love for J-La, not bickering like 5-year-olds."
Actually, I think what I said was pretty mature. Thanks for your concern! I am positive J-LA will do wonderful in this role.
