I was thinking of a few movies that would maybe good B'way musicals... I dont know...maybe someone else had these ideas...some of them might have even tried to be musicals at one point: (all ideas copywrited)
Boys Town, Bells of St Mary
Bowery Boys/Dead End KIds
Sabrina (aka Sabrina Fair)
Here Comes Mr Jordan (boomers know it as "Heaven Can Wait" & kids know it as the Chris Rock movie "Down to Earth"
Marty
Scarface
Batman (only because the flying effects for "Superman" would have to be unbelievable)
Six Degrees of Separation
Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhand
Married To The Mob
The Princess Bride
Ghostbusters
Hey Colin, welcome to the board. LOVE the idea of Edward Sizzorhands!

Um... Psycho Beach Party was a play first.
Another movie that was actualy a play first, but would make a great musical, is DEAD END - the show that introduced the "Dead End Kids" - AKA The Bowery Boys.
ummm....they should still do a musical. And SUPERMAN has been done to death... why do people not know that it's already a musical when they joke about it.....

Andy Warhol's Empire ("...")
The Piano ("I really envy excellent singers, I can't play piano without my fingers")
Schindler's List ("The Holocaust was sad and gory, But let's call this A Goy's Own Story")

ha - brilliant Namo
I'd realy like to see A Mighty Wind as a musical - it's fabulous to begin with
BODY HEAT - singing while having sex would be a box office bonanza!!!!
There is at least one incarnation of Sleepy Hollow out there. Last I knew two different producers were looking at it. I haven't checked up on it in a while though. I think it was Bri69 who loved it? I could be wrong though... I haven't seen him around for a while either. Maybe he just came to the board to talk about it.
Of course, I have no room to talk.
https://www.sleepyhollowthemusical.com/https://www.sleepyhollowthemusical.com/>https://www.sleepyhollowthemusical.com/ I wish I had more time to actively search out fledling musicals and see them. There is something about finding a show before it hits it big and following it. I know it happens for very few musicals, but it adds variety, I can only stand to see a show so many times, especially when I know how many musicals therwe really are out there.

Sleepy Hollow is a musical already. As a matter of fact, from what I understand, it is being considered for a London opening next year.
However, this musical is based on the real Washington Irving book, not Tim Burton's slasher flick version.
(Update): I also think 'Nightmare Before Christmas' would make a fantastic musical!

Isn't Charles Strouse working on Marty with Richard Kind? Or was it Jason Alexander? There were also rumors of Batman floating around for a while.
Heart and Souls
Too Many Crooks (the original version of Ruthless People)
A Room With a View
Apparently musical-adaptions of Shrek and Legally Blonde are set for Broadway in a couple of years....would love them both...They'll be camper than Miss Piggy
But I hope "Anastasia"....love that film...."Journey to the past" is just beautiful...
I'm pretty sure Marty by Charles Strouse premiered in Boston last year with John C. Reilly. It was supposed to come to Broadway this season, but I haven't heard anything in a long time. Anyone else?
who am i this time-a very good idea
THE MAN I LOVE would be a cool play. As for a musical... I dunno about that.
