"Gliding" in Ragtime -it's pretty but just bothers me for some reason

"Something Bad" in Wicked - kill me now...

sometimes "Giants in the Sky" in Into the Woods - that one's sort of on and off

Tonight on the radio...

SUNY New Paltz has a good theatre degree but it's not musical...the good news is that the poly-sci dept. is great too

There are some other SUNY's w/ good programs too

re: Lyrics You Love

I will never understand
How all the world misjudged you
When I have always known
How lucky I must be
I will never understand
How I kept from going crazy
Just waiting there till you came home to me
~Parade

Why not both instead?
There's the answer if your clever
Have a child for warmth
And a baker for bread
And a prince for...whatever!
NEVER!
it's these woods.
~Into the Woods

and I love the endings of "Nothing" (Chorus Lin

re: Lyrics or lines that made you cringe!

Kiss Me Kate:
"I would gladly give up coffee for Sanka
Even Sanka, Bianca for you..."

GAH!

and there's this one word in "Magic to Do" from Pippin that no matter where you breathe or how you try to say the darn thing it always comes out as two words - i think it's "journey, journey to a spot eh-exciting, mystic and exotic..."

DRIVES ME NUTS!

re: Guys and Dolls at Paper Mill

Jun 9, 2004 — 10:41:16 PM

I went and thought it was great - I mean, Guys and Dolls is not the deepest musical ever but this version is done really well and it's a really fun night of theatre, I would def suggest going to see it.

p.s. of course Karen is fabulous

re: Idina's Moment...

Jun 9, 2004 — 6:05:42 PM

I saw it for the first time last night - and what a night to go see it!!! it was wonderful and I thought the audience wasn't going to let Idina start her first number...she had so much entrance applause! The whole show really blew me away, I thought it was fabulous and it was really cool to know that I was watching a recent Tony award winner along with a great great cast. Both Kristen and Idina were really wonderful- it was one of the best theatre experiences i've had in a really long time.

Papermill's Guys and Dolls

Jun 2, 2004 — 3:53:34 PM

If anyone's a fan of Guys and Dolls or just loves old school cheesy musicals, Papermill Playhouse (in Millburn NJ) has got a fabulous production of the show running right now (w/ Karen Ziemba)

It's not my favorite musical but made for a night of good theatre

so go on down and see it!

re: Favorite and least favorite Richard Rodgers shows

May 26, 2004 — 7:40:30 PM

i was raised on the fabulous R&H and they hold a very special place in my heart...i do know that the musicals aren't perfect (especially some of the movie versions - yikes) but i really love the humanity that are in these shows...especially if they are performed with repect and truth

my favs: oklahoma (if it's done truthfully...like the revival)
carousel (oh...the waltz always sends shivers up my spine)
King and I (go carolee go!! saw her as Anna when papermill did it and it was FA
