Great review. I saw it and am going to post a very late review (as I saw it last Sunday).
Richard Blake was in when I saw it, so he probably just got sick. Did you miss him the last two times as well?
I did enjoy this show much better than when I saw it with Laura Bell Bundy. I was skeptical about going back because I was somewhat bored when I saw it the first time around, but I was thoroughly entertained last week.
I am sorry you had the experience with 10 year olds not being able to stay in their seats. When I saw it, I was distracted during the scene where Elle visits Brooke in jail because the idiot kids behind me were moving around their potato chip bags...then when they were done, the mother was folding them up. Seriously, it was crinkling through the whole scene and super annoying!

I agree with all the stuff that's been said here. I thought LBB defined Legally Blonde, but I was very pleasantly surprised by last night's show. Richard Blake, Kate Shindle, and Michael Rupert were all out, but this cast really knows how to pull it together. And whether the book is good or bad, I can't deny that I leave that show smiling every time :)
And what's with the flash photography?! Someone was taking pictures with flashes during So Much Better last night, why do people think that's okay?
Because unfortunately, AshaLee, some people do not know how to listen. We all tend to not read the fine print on our ticket, but they do make that pre-show announcement.
So many people were snapping pictures of the curtain before the show began, but I didn't see anyone during the show.
Maybe they think the "that would be totally uncool" announcement is a joke?
Sadly, this is one of the downsides to bringing new people into the theater. Hopefully they'll learn.
I'm not sure what you mean by "new people" Allofmylife but every single time I've seen the show, there are people either taking pics or taping the show, so it's not about new cast members, if that's what you meant.
that is not what he means. the "NEW" people means people who usually don't attend shows or are not into theatre.
I'm talking about first timers, who are often too excited (and, yes, talking) to hear the "The taking of photographs...." speech. They will hopefully learn.
Wooot! Snaps for Legally Blonde!
God. I always smile when people talk positively about one of my favorite shows.
I have yet to check it out since I went to LBB's last, but I am majorly exicited for a check up.
AllMyLife: You and I have talked about Blonde before. I'm so glad our little beacon of positvity can still shine through all the hate.
It's so weird that it's almost better in every aspect than it was when it originally opened.
The performances are stronger, the energy is higher, the orchestra sounds fantastic, the jokes land better, the ensemble dances fiercely, and the shows' leading lady is much more adept...even though this is her Broadway debut.
I originally gave the show three stars when I saw it but after thinking about it, I probably wouldve taken one star away. And right now it's definitely at three star level, no doubt about it. Severely flawed but impossible to resist.
