Since there was a bit of discussion of Adam's butt a couple of pages ago, I just thought I'd post.

I've apparently missed a lot. First of all, touchmeinthemorning - no one's mourning the loss of Adam Pascal, THANK GOD. I appreciate your attempts at sensitivity, though. I was trying to take this well - and what's about to come is not really geared at any one person, nor one specific event. The past few days (at least in the realm of musical theater) have been extremely rough on me, as you all know, but lately - with Adam back in the Broadway spotlight - he's been getting a lot of sh*t and a lot of gossip. It's getting really stupid already, and quite honestly, I'm tired of being passive and nice about this. No matter how many comments I make about how attractive I find Adam, I'm fan of his because of his talent. I'm not sure how many times I need to say that to get it out there. That said, hopefully something in this post will be taken seriously. I'm sick of people passing lax judgements about people that they don't know, of people making really hurtful assumptions on topics of which they probably know nothing or very little, and of disrespect for some of the most inredible, hard-working people around. What happened on Sunday was nothing but disrespect to a man who put his heart into something for almost FOUR AND A HALF years. Whether you like him or not, that's dedication. In the past three or four days, I don't know how many things (on this board and on several others) I've read about Adam that are really just unfair. I know that things get said about almost every actor, and that I can't run to everyone's defense, but I'm going to do this now, because after Sunday, something needs to be said. Please, people - assumptions about steroids, drugs, alcohol... don't say what you don't know. It's not right, nor is it our business, no matter how much you dislike someone or question his or her merits.
This thread didn't need to get like this, but because of the way people feel about Adam - it seems to be either you love him or you hate him - a simple comparison concerning him can typically get very ugly, very fast. It's so pointless to outwardly bash someone... there are better ways to use your time and your thoughts.
I guess what I'm saying is that this all isn't fair, especially the things that are outwardly disrespectful. It's become VERY clear since Sunday that Adam's sensitive to audience actions, and you really never do know who reads what. Silliness, giddy teenage comments and plasticware aside, he's human too, and I'm ranting at you all because I care. You don't like his voice, don't think he can act? Fine. But the rumors need to end. It's childish and unfair. Grow up, please.
I know that most of you aren't used to this side of me, and hopefully this will be one of the very rare times that you have to see it. I'm sorry, but it needed to be said.

Posted: 9/7/04 at 7:42pmDon't apologize for anything Emcee. It is true, not liking is one thing, spreading rumors - damaging rumors - is another. Its ok to say what you really feel. You dont always have to be the sweet Emcee people know you for. Sometimes you just need to get it out, to vent. Saying that... YOU GO GIRL! *snaps fingers* ... i can't pull that off can i?

Posted: 9/7/04 at 7:47pmLOL TGITF. Not seeing the usual, happy, bubbly Adam on Sunday really had an impact on me. Sometimes things just need to be said. Now the right people just need to see it.

I am bumping to help you dear, because that did need to be said.
But if Adam is hurting his voice, touchme, wouldn't you think that the Aida folks would get it corrected?

go emcee! I didnt mean for this all to get so out of hand... I was just curious who diferent people prefer. I didnt mean to imply that because you chose one of them you automatically have to bash the other... come on guys! They are both very talented people in diferent ways. I didnt ask who is using steroids or not using them. I also am not sure whether or not i agree with the fact that Adam might be hurting his voice, I just would rather he be safe than sorry and wish he would take better care of his pipes...
anyways, i guess thats all for now

No, no!! Noday, this was not at ALL meant to be against you. I understand exactly where you were headed with making this thread. That's why I said that with Adam, even simple comparisons can get ugly because people have such strong feelings about him.
It just needed to be said... in general.

luvtheEmcee,
You're right...accusations don't need to be made...but, when people hear things, there is no reason to not qualify them...like I did. I said, I've heard (throughthe unreliable grapevine) that he uses steroids to keep the swelling down.
I should point this out...there is NOTHING illegal about singers using steroids...ENT doctors prescribe them ALL THE TIME for singers. If he's not using them, I want to know how he fixes his voice when damage is done to it.
One thing I will NEVER say about Adam is that he is unoriginal...his voice is his own...no one sounds like him...even remotely...and it's probably good for the Bway community to have someone like Adam, so that those people who enjoy a rock sound i their shows can enjoy him. I am not one of those people. His sound hurts me to listen to...in the same way, I'm sure listening to Sutton Foster hurts some other people. It's mainly a taste thing.
No offense to anyone intended...I'm just putting out there what I heard...and unlike many people, I qualify it as a potential rumor, and not something I know first hand.
Make sense?

Okay. Touchmeinthemorning, yes. What you said does make sense, as I hope my post did as well. And, as I've been reiterating since posting that, it's not geared toward any one person. The things I said are very, very general. It's just that one thing after another after another piled up, and one last comment set me off.
I think that this needs to go in a direction where we can simply agree to disagree, and that's perfectly fine. I honestly couldn't care less if Adam isn't your cup of tea, because I know that lots of people feel that way, and no matter how strongly I disagree, I know that people are always entitled to their opinions. I was not going at you for your opinion, but for the way you put it out there. No matter what you think of him (or anyone for that matter) "through-the-grapevine" material is hurtful. You said yourself that it's "unreliable," so why even bother with it?
I'm no singer, but you'd think that after something like nine years on Broadway without the training that many other have had, if there was any serious damage, something would've changed. It certainly seems like Adam knows what works for him, whether you like his style, or not.
Realistically, I can't go on with this arguement. I just started my first week of college classes, and I can't spend all of this time online like I usually do. Because of that, and for other reasons, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.
