re: Discount tickets for Chicago Spelling Bee or Wicked?

I'm going to be in Chicago in December and would like to catch Spelling Bee and Wicked, but have always bought my tickets through ticketmaster. Do either of these shows have lotteries or other discounts I should know about?

I'm not sure about the Bee, but Wicked does a lotto. It depends on which day of the week you go. During the week, it's at the box office. During weekends (Fri - Sun) it's up on the 3rd level of Boarders next door.

**EDIT**Actually, I think Spelling Bee has a lotto or something at the Boarders on Michigan Ave. I think I remember seeing something for it when I was there for the Liza with a Z signing this April.

Both shows, by virtue of the same producer, have lotteries.

I doubt there would be any discount tickets for Wicked in December other than the lottery. But, the upper balcony is a fine place to see the show.

Both shows are great. Bee is a lot of fun.

K, you guys are gonna have to help me out. Being from Nebraska and rarely seeing shows outside of Omaha, I've never tried to win/enter one of the lotteries. If I would want to see Wicked on Wednesday and Bee on Thursday, how would I go about doing that?

Try the Wicked matinee lottery. Go to the Oriantal and put your name in the hat (literallly) before the drawing at Noon, or the evening performance the drawing is two hours before the show.
