On the Telecharge website:
"Christine Ebersole will not be performing in the Sunday December 3 performance of Grey Gardens. The roles normally played by Christine Ebersole will be played by Maureen Moore."
i'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this show.
edit: on the December 3rd performance, i mean. we know everyone's thoughts on Grey Gardens as a whole

Did Maureen cover for Christine Off-Broadway?
Has anyone ever seen another actress go on as Edith/Edie?
I think Maureen Moore may qualify as the biggest Broadway Bridesmaid of all-time.
I really admire Maureen Moore, though, for having the smarts to put aside star ego for business savvy. She's made a lot of money as a standby over the years and has still gotten to perform some of the greatest female roles ever written (Rose, Norma Desmond, Emma in SONG IN DANCE and now Edie/Edith)on BROADWAY! It's pretty amazing, actually.
I too will be curioius to hear how Maureen Moore is in the role. In a way, it will be critical for the future success of GREY GARDENS to know that it can play equally well without the galvanizing talent of Ebersole.
I agree, MB... I really hope she does well.
I too am interested to see how Moore fairs in the role. She seems to be right for it, so hopeully she won't dissapoint.
best12, I think Maureen ties for 'biggest Broadway Bridesmaid ever' with Linda Mugleston, whose understudied Idina Menzel in See What I Wanna See, Donna Murphy in Wonderful Town, Mary Stuart Masterson in Nine, Vanessa Williams in Into The Woods, and Lea DeLaria in On The Town.
I saw Maureen Moore as Norma Desmond, and really liked her a lot (once I got over the initial disappointment that Elaine Paige wasn't there, of course).
Well, she does seem like a good fit for the role in Grey Gardens!
best12, All the understudies are new for Broadway so Maureen didn't cover off-broadway. and as of now, off-broadway and on, no one but Christine has played Edith/Edie.

I was lucky enough to see Maureen come on as Rose.
She was wonderful!
With all the raves Christine Ebersole has gotten, if anyone is up to the challenge, it's Ms. Moore.
I wish her all the best!
Nancy Hess she ain't.
(and I mean that as a compliment)
It's a compliment in my book.

Oh Lord!
I was just ordering my tickets for Grey Gardens on December 3.
DO you think Christine will be in for the 2nd?
Maureen's talent is huge
But isn't she kinda short for the part?
she is a DOLL! I was honored to have worked with her on a show - and see her go on for one of the leading ladies one night... she had such respect for the way the role had been crafted, without losing her own unique style as an actress/performer.
I think she will be wonderful - and a riot in the funny material :)
BCR...the question is...why aren't YOU going on as Big/Little Edie?

Yeah, why aren't you?
I saw Maureen Moore in Gypsy during previews when Bernadette Peters was out, I see her as Peters' main stand-by in most of her shows, and she sure knows how to deliver. I thought her Rose was fantastic. I wish I had seen her as Emma in Song & Dance and will most likely be there on the 3rd to see her take on the two eccentric women.

Will anyone from here be there?
Good question
But I think you mean there?
There are people lining up for refunds right now
Which is a shame,
Because this is a great musical
and i think other actresses can do this role
Victoria Clark is not a replacement option
but she would rock in this part
going to try try try to be there....I LOVE Maureen Moore, but I may have a tech rehearsal.
Sounds like I might have to get my tickets for my third perf of Grey Gardens to see this! I am excited!
