The next Fiyero?

Okay, I had asked a little while back who the next Elphaba will be, as I am taking boyfriend to see it in April. Anyone know who will be coming in as the next Fiyero? I have seen a few good ones in the past, although I preferred Butz best.

re: The next Fiyero?

Derrick Williams leaves January 7th.

Although there is no official word on his replacement, it will most likely be Sebastian Arcelus, who recently left the tour (I know the cast had heard buzz over the summer that Arcelus was set to come to the NY company in October, but Derrick ended up extending his contract.) I saw him last spring, and he was wonderful; probably the best Fiyero they've had post-Butz.

If he does indeed come to the Gershwin, you're in for a treat!

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

re: The next Fiyero?

I saw Sebastian on tour not to long ago and thought he was pretty good.

re: The next Fiyero?

I saw Sebastian in Seattle and thought he was only mediocre, but I tend to dislike anyone that isn't Norbert. He wasn't bad, by any means, but he wasn't memorable either.

re: The next Fiyero?

I think Charles Hagerty might do well in the role.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I didn't really care for Sebastian...his acting was pretty good though.

There was a Barrett <--- rumour a couple of weeks ago.

re: The next Fiyero?

But Barrett just started his run in Spelling Bee a few months ago--5 or 6 months seems kinda short for a run in a show.

I thought Sebastian was near perfection in the role. I really enjoyed his take on the role.

Oh my god. Charles Hagerty would get me to see Wicked again.

It might take LizzieCurry as Fiyero to get me to see it again. re: The next Fiyero?

Hagerty would make an interesting Fiyero though. I was sort of hoping he might play Matt in THE FANTASTICKS again even though he probably is a tad too old at this point. I'd really like to see him in that role. I've heard he was phenominal.

re: The next Fiyero?

It might take a lot of convincing for Arcelus to continue in this role... even on Broadway. Particularly if another offer were to come along as it has for him in the past.

By the way, he was terrific in Wicked.

re: The next Fiyero?

Most likely, Sebastian...but that's just my guess.

re: The next Fiyero?

He left the tour the minute he could...and would have left earlier if he could have. It wasn't for want of trying.

Now, the task would have to be to lure him back for such a replacement role on Broadway. Maybe, but wouldn't bet the farm on it.

re: The next Fiyero?

Sebastian basically said himself that he'll be playing Fiyero. Your in for a treat. He's incredible. Easily my favorite, even over Norbert.

re: The next Fiyero?

I really wouldn't mind seeing him on Broadway. I might be going in April too, and from what I've heard he's pretty good.

Isn't that the guy who won Pop Idol(how American Idol started)?

re: The next Fiyero?

On Wednesday I went to NYC to see Wicked, and Derrick wasn't there. His understudy Michael Seelback filled in for him.

He was quite good.

And shall I say quite good-looking. :)

Yes, and if you want to see him on film check out the Judi Dench Mrs. Henderson flick. He has a good part in it.

re: The next Fiyero?

i hope no ones takes this as me taking anyones talent away, but doesnt anyone think that wicked should get some new blood instead of recycling the same people over and over from broadway to the tour to london ?
