I was just listening to DRS...and wondered if there has been any audience reaction (especially Tuesday night) to Norbert's "I win...I win...I win, I win, I win" during Son of Great Big Stuff. anyone been recently?

This is from another thread, from someone who saw the show Tuesday evening..apparently Jerry Seinfeld was at the show.. nothing specific to "I Win, I win.."

I just got home from DRS. Like we don't know this already, but....Norbert = BRILLIANT !!! This was my 2nd time seeing it and it was still as fresh as ever and is just one of those show you never tire of. When Norbert walked out onto the stage I thought the crowd would go more wild than they did....I don't think some even knew who it was...jeez !!! That didn't last long. By the last number the crowd was insane. When Norbert and John finished their last song and Norbert sits back in the lounge chair John stands and bows to him and the crowd were on their feet !!! The place was full of screams and applauds that seemed like it never was gonna end. Norbert jumps up on John hugging him. It was priceless and another unforgetable night at the theater. I wish you all could've been there. Watching Norbert tonight and having seen all the other nominees performances in that category..he blew them all away and deserved this TONY more than any of them.

Part of the reason he didn't get entrance applause may have been because (if I remember correctly) there's no room for it. I remember wanting to clap for him when he entered, but he enters mid-conversation or something (the memory's a bit hazy), so it would completely ruin the flow of the show.

I wish I had been at that performance. I can't wait to see it again. Norbert is so amazing in that role!!

He managed to get entrance applause at the matinee I saw, day before opening night.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

great to hear he had that little moment with Lithgow :)

I *started* the entrance applause for him when I saw it in April! He enters (if i remember correctly) Stage Right to get to the train on Stage Left, so there actually is some time there if people want to, or recognize him... It's just not blocked like Lithow's, Joanna's or Sherie's entrances which pretty much have them hitting a pose while people applaud.

It's always a toss-up: do I re-see a show I *loved* like this one? or go to Bee and Piazza next time? sigh. Hopefully all 3 re: reaction to Norbert's win at DRS

I saw Bee and recommend it--am seeing Piazza in July..but I saw DRS in March and then in May ( won lottery--first name called, it was heaven!) saw DRS again from the front row this time.

I have to say, I would try the lottery again, just think it will be more crowded now. But I would definitely see DRS a 3rd time--before this cast leaves.

I saw the matinee of DRS the day of the Tony awards and after "Dirty Rotten Number" the applause had been going on for quite some time and many audience members were on their feet. after the applause had died down Norbie looked at John and said "...we've really got to get to those Tony Awards." it was priceless. they continued to ad-lib a bit but it's a little hazzy. just thought I'd share...

He got entrance applause when I saw it last night, and everytime he "went off." Like he literally spent 5 minutes writhing on the floor during the beef jerky scene and stopped the show. It was hilarious! Almost every song was a show-stopper, especially "Great Big Stuff." That song is beyond hilarious!

:) So so happy his work is recognized. "went off" is a good way to describe what he does... I was listening to the "Dr. Shuffhausen" scene earlier -- even his vocal responses through the audio are hysterial...though maybe it's the visual I still have. great to hear the audience is just eating it up. i must go back.

It seems there are the best cast on Broadway now.

Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

They certainly seem like the tightest cast. They're all so friendly. Like, the notes Joanna Gleason leaves on Sherrie's door that say "You're too fat to live". I was DYING!
