I have Asperger's disability and saw Curious and thought it was borderline terrible. Why was the boy so scared of using the train ? I was using buses when I was 12. I think if the dad did not shelter his son then he would have been better off.


I saw matilda again and still think its the best musical ever written.

I didn't see the play, but I read the book. I had to do a report of it for one of my class (I am a speech and language pathologist). You have to keep in mind that the autor isn't Asperger, neither have Asperger people around him. He didn't do research on this topic before writing his book. In fact, Haddon say that "Curious Incident is not a book about asperger's, but novel about difference, about being an outsider, about seeing the world in a different way. The condition of Christopher is never stated. But most people see him as Asperger.

Like you, I didn't really enjoy the book. I didn't feel that the character of Christopher was real. I found many Asperger traits, but I don't know why, I can't connect to the character.

Homewer, you have to keep in mind that there are no two alike Asperger. I worked with autistic children and they were all differents.

EDIT: I read the french translation. Maybe I need to read the original novel to truly appreciate it.

My son has Asperger's . . . and after one bad incident on an escalator, who has avoid escalators for years. Everyone has different things that bother them - Asperger's or not.

It is never specified that the charactsr has Aspergers. I went to a screening and asked one of the producers and he said it is not specified on purpose. I think the show is billiant.
