Saw the show this afternoon. Was out the door at 3:55, intermission was about 2:55. Are they cutting more and more out of this show? Monologues still out of the show, btw - don't know if Greg's monologue, which a lot of people seemed to miss, would've made a difference in the end. From what was described below, the dialogue and staging kind of showed those bits of internal growth instead of telling us.

Marin Ireland was out, but I have to say her understudy, Anne Bowles, was pretty stellar. Steven Pasquale was great and Piper Perabo surprisingly strong. It did sound a bit like she was flat and projecting a bit loudly at first, but as the role began to fill out, so did performance.

Thomas Sadoski was amazing. (By the way, didn't realize he was the kid from that movie "Loser", though I knew he looked really familiar.) His character's journey was so fully realized in his hands, it would be hard to see anyone else in the role. To be able to turn the audience hate for Greg into appreciation and even love is hard thing, but he's does a fantastic job getting us there.

By the way, sat first row and during the fight scene, Sadoski's jersey slid off the stage right into my lap. I had to nicely reach over and place it back on the stage, which was the right decision because it was needed the rest of the scene!

The show itself? By no means an amazing play, it's certainly a nice change after some of the lackluster new high-profile or "important" plays I've seen in the last few week. It was fast-moving, funny, and a compelling watch.

It also made me hungry...holy crap the props people must have fun buying all that junk food!

I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's a really strong play.
