Best 1.5 sec of my life! haha

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

I just sort of sat there when it was over, staring into space, reminding myself to take deep breaths. Melodramatic? Yes, but I don't really think I care. I'm so excited, and so ready for this movie. That clip looked great... it really did.

Too early to tell. My first impression was WOW! My second impression was cheesy beach party flick. Which it won't be - but it's just from the 4 seconds of footage they gave us.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

That whole thing gave me chills.

This part in particular really hit home:

Typical movie set. Then, off in the corner, was this huge black curtain. I walked over to the side of it and saw a group of director's chairs spread about with the infamous RENT lettering on the back. Fantastic! I quickly walked over to see some of the names: Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Taye Diggs, Julie Larson, Chris Columbus. Who knew chairs could be so exciting?

Then, something grabbed my attention. There was fake snow falling and cars parked along a backdrop of New York City. Behind the black curtain was a façade of a restaurant. It was the one and only Life Café. It took all my energy not to say "oh my God" out loud. I casually peaked in and saw some familiar faces rehearsing. Anthony Rapp was standing on top of the table. Wilson Heredia (he dropped the "Jermaine" from his middle name) was talking to Rosario Dawson. Adam Pascal and Jesse L. Martin were laughing with Idina Menzel. There they were, almost all of the original Broadway performers rehearsing for the movie. The "Rent" movie. How lucky was I? Magic was definitely in the air.

Save for a few minor details, I could've written that. He captured so much of what I remember so vividly from that first night beautifully... made me cry all over again. There's something about those chairs that's so real, so in-your-face and so unforgettable.

"Who knew chairs could be so exciting?"

Anything can be exciting if it has the names of the RENT cast.

This is just pumping me up for tomorrow's Access Hollywood. I can hardly contain myself.

My God, the adrenaline is still pumping through my viens. The funny thing is that I didn't even remember it was on, but happened to be watching the show while painting. Wasn't really paying attention but I heard those chords of La Vie Boheme and my head just snapped up and I dropped my paintbrush in shock. Then proceeded to melt on the floor in a puddle of the happiest goo alive. :-P Yes it was only a tiny litte clip or two but holy **** what a clip! I can't wait for tommorow's full segment. re: rent clip The only two from the main cast I could make out clearly were Anthony and Rosario and they both looked AMAZING! Rosario looks beautiful as Mimi and Anthony doesn't look like he's aged a day since 1996. SO EXCITED! *breaths in deeply* *exhales* gotta remember to do that more often......

I just read the blog. Ah, they said that it hadn't changed, that it's like the way it was in the musical. That excites me so much. I can't wait for the package tomorrow night!

Wow. That blog entry was great. I think it was cool for Access Hollywood to allow one of their interns to go on the set of a major movie because they knew she was a major fan. I'm also glad that they allowed her to do a blog so that we could all read about her experience.

I am sooooo excited for the RENT segment today! :)
