rumor about Starbucks Theatre

Did anyone else hear this? I was told that they might be renaming the Eugene O'Neill Theatre to the Starbucks Theatre. I don't know how reliable the source is but I know they are involved with Starbucks somehow or whaever and they're approching people about branching that way.

i believe that theaters should not be 'auctioned off to the highest bidder'. That putting peoples names or company names on the marque is (i believe) disgusting. instead of the Starbucks theater, how about the Cole Porter or the Loesser theater? i know they give money but do they have to change the name? if they must they should follow Cadillacs (sp?) example: Cadillac Wintergarden Theater. that's still revolting but it's better.

Haha the theatre would essentially be a HUGE starbucks with entertainment on the side.

Yeah, see I think that's what I heard it was about is taking over the drink service that's currently in the theatres. They know that if poeple will buy overpriced drinks in the theatre they might as well be a good name. If Starbucks had naming rights and served their drinks its a sure gain.

Urgh, I am so sick of theaters named after corporations. The American Airlines Theater, the Ford Center, the Cadillac Winter Garden...how long will it be until we have the Viagra theater? Or the Tampax Theater?

I'd rather have any of these than the Rosie O'Donnell Theater (also known as ROT)
