From what I've read in the past(although the messages I read were from several months ago), things have gotten pretty crazy for student rush tickets. I was wondering if it's still equally crazy? I want to see a play on Thursday night, but the earliest I can get in the city is 6:30PM or so. Are there any shows that have rush tickets that I could still get tickets at that late of a date? I had my heart set on Spring Awakening or The Little Mermaid, but it looks like it's difficult to get rush tickets to those shows. I know Spring Awakening has the on-stage tickets, but those appear to sell out. Any suggestions on what might be available that late? Thanks in advance for any help

Chicago usually has rush tickets left pretty close to curtain.

Thursday night, this time of year, I don't think you'll have that much of an issue. You could probably still get Mermaid rush tickets. I'm not sure about Spring Awakening but I think you could still get one pretty easily. It doesn't hurt to just go to the theatres and ask. By that late of time they would probably be happy to let go of any extra tickets in the mezzanine and Spring Awakening is not the sold out show it was less than a year ago.

I got Mermaid tickets at about 5:30 over the summer so I would think you should be able to get them that late this time of year.

What do you mean, pretty crazy? The only time I was turned down for Student Rush tickets were with August Osage County, because you can buy Student Rush when box office opens for the day.

I was able to get Student Rush for All My Sons at 6:30 for the 8 o clock show on the second preview performance. Gypsy I was able to get an hour before showtime on a wednesday. Spring Awakening we were able to get an hour before showtime on a wednesday, front row. Xanadu, 2 hours before showtime on a Wednesday evening. You should have no problem.

I had a similar inquiry... I'm attempting rush tomorrow afternoon for the matinee performances, but I can't make it to the theatre district till about noon. Any chance anyone thinks "The Seagull" or "All My Sons" will have A rush ticket left?

I'm not too optimistic, but I'm going to try.

You should be fine for Spring Awakening rush. I got a rush seat a few months ago about 20 minutes before curtain.

Chicago doesn't keep there rush tickets throughout the day. You either buy them when they first open or you don't get them. If no one is there in the morning they just send them to TKTS.

I would try for Gypsy. Enjoy your time in the city!

[title of show]'s lottery happens an hour before curtain. Even if you don't win, they sell $37 tix in the balcony. Not bad seats. I've literally gotten tickets for Gypsy and walked right into the theatre. They always have seats. August's rush has been selling out right away (only 10 seats to offer). All My Sons' rush happens 3 hours before curtain. I haven't heard how well it's been selling, but they're based on availability, so they may just sell them to the public for regular price if no students claim them. Boeing-Boeing sells $20 box seats (awful view) and $36 balcony seats (AMAZING seats!). Spring Awakening has had onstage seats available recently at rush and no one has bought them when I was there. Last time I rushed, I was a little farther back in line and the stage seats were still available (4 for the matinee, 4 for the night show).

That's all I'm positive about.
