i feel like this may be a dumb post, but--
i am a theatre-crazy student who is going to nyc for my 16th birthday [end of june] and need to pick a show to see..
i was considering avenue q but am reluctant and not really into seeing it [i don't know why..even though everyone raves about it]-- i was also looking into seeing 'the drowsy chaperone' but haven't decided yet--
does anyone have any suggestions..
i'm a mature high school student who LOVED dirty rotten scoundrels, wicked, rent, DOUBT, aida, mamma mia, the light in the piazza.
i like to laugh, but don't mind taking a risk on a new-er show [though i would hope it would be great; it will be my birthday and all] and if you have a suggestion, make it a musical please.
so please help!! all suggestions and imput would be appreciated!!

I am 17 and I saw Spamalot. It was the most fun I ever had. I am a rocky horror buff so seeing Tim Curry was part of why i think it was a great play. But regardless it is a play where for 2 hours you can laugh your ass off. I am heading off to see the Wedding Singer next which I hear is mighty funny but Spamalot is engraved as the best time of my life. Now If you feel like dancing and singing Mamma Mia is the way to go. That is my 2 cents. regardless have a great time in NYC

I could see that you like shows that are slightly more flashy and modern.
Though I enjoyed Sweeney, I do not reccomend seeing it on your birthday.
Stay away from Chicago, it has NO scenery and would only work with an amazing cast.
From what I hear, Tarzan isn't half as spectacular as one would expect.
If you liked Aida and Wicked, you will probably like BatB and TLK.
I also reccommend Phantom.
Though I haven't seen it, Spamalot is probably right up your alley.

"It... did."
I think he's talking about how it was an upset, and how many people thought Wicked should have beat Ave Q.

If it were my birthday, I would like it to be fun so therefore I would choose "The Drowsy Chaperone" or "The Wedding Singer".

Cute and funny: Spelling Bee
Dramatic/challenging: Sweeney Todd
Though I'm leaning towards Spelling Bee.

My bday's in the end of June too! What day may I ask?
Hmmm I think you like the "fun" shows, but I would def recommend something different. Sweeney is awesome, don't worry it won't depress you on your bday.
You can try some new stuff too!

Posted: 4/9/06 at 4:15pmI'd say Sweeney. It's one of the best shows currently on Broadway.
