shows you have grown out of ?

i guess my main one would chicago. after the seeing the film for a second time. i now can't bear to listen any of the songs. it just reminds me of rob marshal trying to cut up the songs into many chunks, interlinked with copias amounts of dialogue. Underscore with background noise. also really patronising perspectives, just in case the audience can’t understand fantasy and reality!

perhaps I should see it again and have my faith restored – the current london cast is good.

Wicked.
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

Chicago and Cabaret, I have seen the movies and the stage versions too many times.

Cats. It was my first shows and I wanted to go back for a long time. Then I saw the version that they aired on PBS and I wasn't interested anymore.

Wicked to an extent. I should go back and reread the novel. I still love the characters, but the show has some very frivilous parts to it.

The Wizard of Oz. We did it in highschool and ever since I tripped on my low cut Ozian gown and had a wardrobe malfunction...well lets just say it's lost its appeal to me.

Joseph...after performing it twice in less than a year, it gets old. But I was definitely a member of the Donny Osmond Fan Club when I was younger, and I think I actually still am.

Peter Pan. I've been in it three times and I always had the same role- and Indian. I mean, the second time I also played the crocodile and the third time I was Mrs. Darling, but I don't want to see it or perform in it ever again.
There's a lot I am not certain of...

I don't think it's possible to "grow out of" shows such as Chicago and Phantom. That phrase implies that you've become too mature for the show. I think one can grow out of a show like Wicked, but I would imagine that it's hard to become too mature for Chicago.

That said, I definitely find myself listening to Chicago a lot less than I used to. I didn't overplay it; I just lost interest. While I still like the songs, I rarely have an urge to listen to it or even watch the movie. I think the end of my Chicago phase really came after seeing Melanie Griffith as Roxie. Dear God.

Probably the Lloyd Webber shows and even Les Mis and Miss Saigon to some extent. I think I obsessed about all of them too much when I first got into musical theatre, so now I hardly ever play those recordings anymore.

I fear I may have grown out of The Last Five Years. I still love it, but it doesn't... impress me the way it used to. Or something like that.

And I outgrew Les Mis years ago. I can still listen to it and feel all nostalgic, but again, not the same feeling.

I have very much grown out of RENT.

I thought I had outgrown Evita... but I SO DIDN'T.

Definitely RENT.

I don't have it in me to believe in miracles or optimism anymore. I wish it presented a more complex view of those topics.

Rent
Wicked
Anything Andrew Lloyd Webber (except Phantom and Woman)
and I'm starting to get tired of Passion for some reason. I love the storyline to death, but it's growing old for me.

Phantom of the Opera (I'm tired of it- over exposure!!!)

Chicago (though I am going to see it when I go to NY in May as I want to see how it is done live and I really do enjoy the music- I just got overexposed to it)

Evita (I over listened to it)

Cats (need I say any more?)
