Sara Gettelfinger, the new Carla in Nine, is quite tall. I'd say 5'10" or so and full-figured. I give her all kinds of credit for riding that wire up and down every night. Because of her size, she seems braver than Krakowski.
BTW, I was at the 10/8 matinee and I think they had just received word of Gettelfinger's promotion. When she and MSM (another tiny actress) came out the stage door they were very cheerful, and MSM actually picked Sara up. Very comical considering their respective sizes!
They went off for a between-shows smoke (how do these people sing?) at the Worldwide Plaza over on 9th, and Sara was very animated. MSM kept patting her on the back and was very thrilled also. 'Course I don't know for sure, I couldn't hear what they were saying, but since the news was announced that day I like to think I was there when she got the word!

If you look at some of the legends of theater, some of the women were tall and slender, others short and heavier, some beautiful and others plain. They all made a name in theater history based on talent.

Posted: 10/17/03 at 3:28pmI'm 4'10" and a half - the half is very important - and I've gotten work in a few regional theaters. I've never tried for Broadway but I'd like to think that I can do it...lol. Plus, if you're small, you get to play kid/teen roles FOREVER! Yay Bye Bye Birdie, Footloose, Fame and every other show about high school EVER in my life! I was an orphan in Annie practically every year from when I was ten until I was 17 and was going to do the Networks tour as an orphan when I was 15 but I declined...and it isn't Broadway but Theatreworks, Artspower and all of those other touring shows, they love short people! It's a great way to get your Equity card. And Jen Cody is my favorite actress ever and she's short..actually for her role in Urinetown, they now only look for shorter actresses...in a casting notice I read it said looking for especially shorter women for the role of Little Becky. So yay short people.

I guess it's the terminology -- and the perspective. I'm not into fashion or clothes so full-figured to me doesn't apparently mean what it "usually" does. Yes, by the terms you defined, I am obese, too!!
What I meant was in terms of the discussion about tiny actresses around 5' and 100 pounds. Don't know what Krakowski is exactly, but probably around there, perhaps a little taller and heavier. And yes, Sara in street clothes is not big. Just compared to Krakowski -- and in the push 'em up dress she wears in the role, she is a tall, full-figured (or should I say full-busted?) lady.
I do not mean overweight in any way, shape, or form. In fact, she's probably too thin for her height as are most actors. But we're talking about tall women in show biz and she's one of 'em.

Marissa is 4'11 and she won a Tony and a Drama Desk.
It is not about your size it is about your talent.
Break a leg darling.
