Posted: 4/12/07 at 12:51pmHow about The Fantastics? It's got five, but one person just holds props for the most part. You may find a way around not using the mute. Not sure it would work, but it's a suggestion. Worth looking into.

I can't think of many musicals 4 or under besides the ones already mentioned, but there are a bunch with 5:

THE FANTASTICKS has eight people. Eliminating the Mute would violate copywright.
BABY has a cast of twelve - bare minimum.

I Am My Own Wife
The Belle of Amherst
The Last Flapper
Lillian
The Fourposter
The Subject Was Roses
Talley's Folly
The Gin Game
Look on the Samuel French, Dramatists' Play Service, Tams Witmark, Music Theatre International and Rodgers and Hammerstein websites. You'll find plenty of these.

Why not do Urinetown and eliminate ALL the secondary characters - then it would have only six people.
Since violating copywright doesn't seem to matter.
