Posted: 1/17/04 at 2:49pmHow late did it go? Unfortunately I got home from work at 7:30 so I couldn't make it...or at least assumed (incorrectly?) that everyone would've been gone by the time I got there, approx 8pm or so.

10:30ish I think... As evidenced by this board, once you get most of us started talking, it can go for a while.

We all had a very nice time.
I would like to thank the person (you know who you are!) who gave me the lovely gift of a CD of Merman's last performance in TWHM. I listened to it on the drive home and have to say that this ISN'T the last performance. I was there and Gower Champion received a loud round of applause when he appeared with the dancers during "I Put My Hand In". That applause it not to be heard on the recording. Similarly, Merman's entrance in the Harmonia Gardens received TUMULTUOUS applause that afternoon. that's not evident on this CD, either. Also, I don't think that's Russell Nype as Cornelius. The fellow on the recording sounds much too young to be Nype. Nype performed with Merman in CALL ME MADAM. It's hard to say, though.
That said, it's a terrific recordning and I'm extremely happy to add it to my collection. Thank you very much.

The most intimate question posed during the evening was asked of Felicia:
"What kind of soap do you use?"
The girl DEFINES peaches-and-cream complexion.
(Alas, I did not hear her answer) :)

Posted: 1/17/04 at 6:34pmMaster, you're sweet, but you know that our end of the long table, the hirsute RobbieJ the impressive exception, had a healthy glow that was blinding. Talk about a show of skin, above the chin-line. We were either Hair Club For Men, the before picture, or Blue Man Group, out of make-up.

Finally back at work (thanks for the 3-day weekend, Dr. King!!) and can report that it was a surprisingly delightful time.
I have been on several internet 'blind' dates, some of which turned out well and some that haven't. But meeting 20 new people for the first time was a little nerve-wracking. But in no time at all, we were chatting like it was this board. The cocktails flowed and so did the wonderful, good will.
A lady never gives too many details, lest she gets them wrong because her head was woozy from the Kettle one, but three points I'd like to make:
1. Auggie, I adore you for calling me hirsuit...but in the spirit of sisterhood, a full disclosure must be made. I pay $55.00 a month for the pills that keep this hair on my head. Plus, bald is very sexy!
2. Felicia Finley is a class act who provided my favorite 'small world, isn't it?' moments in years!
3. I send a big thanks to Marc Shaiman for the delicious beverage. You are a dear man, a brilliant composer and I'd be your houseboy in P-Town ANYTIME!
