hi all, i have a question about an audition for which i just recieved a notice. im more into straight plays, but im considering auditioning for "into the woods", and they are asking for "an up-tempo and ballad". im very green at this, i was considering "shiksa godess" from "the last five years", but this group did that show last year and i wouldn't want to be compared to the guy who did that song in their production. plus this is a sondheim show, so they will be judging by certain standards. any suggestions?
EDIT: haha, i changed the title to put "sondheim" into it so more people would check it! please someone help me out!

Posted: 8/7/04 at 12:59amI personally would say uptempo. There really isn't a ballad aspect in it, is there?

Big News is a great song, but if you will kill the pianist. It is a very difficult piece to play, so you might want to try something else or hope that you have a pianist who is as good as JRB.

Personally I like "The King of Old Broadway" from the Producers.
It has good runs which can show off your articulation and slow sections with a bouncy tempo for good bravado.
