I'm 19. I'm not that into GG, honestly, but I do think that has a better score, much better lyrics, and that it deserved the award over SA.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I love the people who are clearly offended and are oblivious to that fact that this is all sarcasm.

Spring Awakening is certainly not better than such musicals as "Follies," "Carousel," "South Pacific," "Oklahoma," or even IMO "Les Mis".
Now, I happen to LOVE GG because I can connect with it deeply and personally and think the score, lyrics, book and concept are better than adapting a play that is honestly dated into a musical that feels like a teenie bopper version of Rent.

Lyntom: I'm 18, loved Grey Gardens, and didn't like Spring Awakening. It has nothing to do with age, if that's what you're thinking about. It has to do with the fact that some people simply don't like it.

i thought it was cute when lea and jon had sex! i am so mad that gorff didn't get best actor! i mean, his butt, is naked! who else on braodway is baring their hot ass right???!?! nobody, right? so that should be enough to get him the tony! and i am also so mad lea didn't even get nominated! who is this cristin eberosl person? she doesn't desreve to win because i have no idea what the hell this gray gardens thing is. lea should have bee nomminated over her!

i think it's a brave choice by the performers to actually have sex onstage rather than simulating it. it's doubly impressive that gallagher's able to even rise to the occasion night after night since he's a famously hungry bottom.

logcabin, how true!
What really scares me is that people feel free to speak about masturbation, they just can't spell it! I know that a lot of you were making fun of the spelling and grammar, but there were also a lot of writers that were just plain wrong, from the spelling to the grammar.
I woke up this morning and, no, this wansn't a bad dream, Broadway has gone from bad to worse over the past four years and while they may advertise by saying that "more tickets than ever were sold on Broadway", it would be interesting to see what the breakdown of the sales for show. One thing for sure,we are not going to see the likes of Carousel, Oklahoma,My Fair Lady or even Brigadoon any time in the near future- at least not as original works.
Ladies and Gentlemen, P.T.Barnum was correct and that should scare the hell out of all of us.

lyntom:

I'm a teen, and I definitley prefer Grey Gardens to Spring Awakening.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I think it would be totally awesome if when everybody was singing "Pupule Summer" all the kids got nekkid.

And if one more person says the choreography is innovative and works in the show? It's been done before, it's called STOMP and it's been around for years.
