SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL has a cast recording of the Original Broadway Cast with David Shiner as The Cat In The Hat.

There is no cast recording for Cathy Rigby nor Rosie 'O Donnell. Not sure if they plan to record one for the tour, probably not.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Did the broadway production incorporate the flying that you see in the tour? Or did it jsut begin when rigby took over the rights?

I've never seen Seussical and was wondering if the character "Yertle the Turtle" is incorporated in this production? Would anyone who has seen it know?

In reply to Alvin, Yertle the Turtle is not in Seussical. To anyone who has seen the show on tour, not Broadway, you might want to preview the recording, because the show was drastically rewritten before the tour.

No Yertle!! Yertle the Turtle is my personal favorite Seuss character so I would have loved to have seen him included. I may have the opportunity to see the Tour, so I just wanted an idea of what I am getting myself into. I will check out the cast recording. Thanks!

I believe it was not in the Broadway production. My friend is one of the principals in the cast and she told me they added the flying for Ms. Rigby. Considering she is the producer, I guess she was able to make that work for her!

Do I still owe you something in the mail?? PM me to remind me. I've been a little overwhelmed lately!

There was no flying per say on broadway. The only 'flying' on broadway was at the act one finale. The cat's foot gets tangled in a rope and he/she gets pulled up into the air. Rosie had a double do that. Rigby is a fanatic about flying (Which I can understand -- it is such a blast when you get used to it) and pretty much begged fred mertz -- i mean Barry weissler -- to add some, but he said no.

Yes, the Broadway production had about 20 seconds of flying. In the tour, there is tons of it. Cathy Rigby is a master in flying. As soon as we upgrade our technology, she is able to be one step ahead and do things never attempted before, and with practice, perfectly.

And Yertle The Turtle is in SEUSSICAL, at least he was on Broadway. I think The Cat was the Judge in the tour, but on Broadway, Yertle was the judge.

Are we talking flying as in 'wooo, look at me, I'm flying'? If so, the line 'Cathy Rigby is a master in flying' made me laugh.

LOL I made a funny. :-P

Honestly though, she is an Olympic gymnast and can do amazing things in the air. She just needs to land better and needs more air space.
