Posted: 4/18/06 at 8:47pmI suppose I could lump all the classics together i.e Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, Oklahoma, Brigadoon & West Side Story. Of the last few years it becomes easier, Phantom, Les Miserables, Cats and the like. Of this year, Woman In White. That is more than five. But opinions change as years go by. Or maybe it is easier to compare so certain shows stand out more.

Guys and Dolls
my top ten would include things like jersey boys and DRS too though :)

They're not all my favorites, but I think the five truly "perfect" musicals are:
1. Oklahoma!
2. Gypsy
3. My Fair Lady
4. Guys and Dolls
5. West Side Story
"Perfect" meaning if you cast it well, no matter how bad everything else is, it will work.
My favorites:
Oklahoma!, Carousel, Cabaret, Crazy For You, and Sunday in the Park With George.
Really, there are like four or five more, but those five will do.

Here are my top five, based only on shows I have seen:
"Les Miserables" is my favorite.
These other four are in no real order, it kind of changes depending on my mood:
"Miss Saigon"
"The Lion King"
"The Music Man"
"Cats."
