well, one of my favorite musicals has music from the 1930s (Crazy For You) but the story was written around 1990. so, actually, more than ten years ago. and sweeny original was more than 10 years ago.

<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

-Dre-
You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.
~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.
~Curtains~

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.

Thesbijean,
This thread is for people's favorite shows, not what they think are the best shows of all-time.

The problem is that if you revive an old thread someone here will get upset about that, so you are doomed either way. I'll post my list later, I want to think about it more.

Ten (cannot limit myself to five) musicals that make me laugh, cry, play the record over and over, get all huffy during bows, not sleep at night, immediately take the character/actor's names as future baby names, and spend a little too much time gazing at the program:

1. AIDA
2. Man of La Mancha
3. The Light in the Piazza
4. Wicked
5. Gypsy
6. Carnival
7. Cinderella (NOT the Disney version, the Broadway version)
8. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
9. The Lion King
10. West Side Story

Extremely Honorable Mention To:
Seussical the Musical
Avenue Q.
Chicago
The Pajama Game
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Oliver!
