This may be an obvious question but does one need to know anything about Chekhov to "get" this Durang play??
I am thinking of taking a non-theater person to see it...

One doesn't need to know Chekhov but it does add to the fun when you know what the references and situations refer to. But, no, a non-theatre person should still get a lot out of production.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I anticipated... that it'll be totally fun regardless, but more clever fun if you know the Chekhov references.

My mother is not knowledgeable of Chekhov at all, and she loved the play/production.
