which part to take?

I got cast as both these parts in 2 different productions at 2 different theatres, both performing at the same time, and so I have to chose one, and fast. I was just wondering which role would look stronger on a resume.

Alice in You Can't Take It With You
Meg in Little Women (the musical)

thnx!

re: which part to take?

Take the one that's not crap.

And congrats on getting cast in both shows. That's pretty neat that you have a choice.

But seriously, if you're basing it solely on which show to take by the shows themselves, go with You Can't Take It With You.

re: which part to take?

personally I would take the musical

but go with:
-The better production team
-The better company
-the part you care about playing more

Alice. Great part, fantastic show that the audience will love.

Congratulations!

I have to agree, definitely Alice. YCTIWY is a wonderful show and Alice a great part. Good luck no matter which you choose.re: which part to take?

agree with Alice... its such a great show...

re: which part to take?

You shouldn't pick a show because it would look "stronger" on your resume. It takes 10 seconds to put a show on your resume, but you would be in rehearsal for the show for weeks/months.

I would go with Alice.

re: which part to take?

Meg is one of the roles I would eventually love to play.

Congrats on getting both parts! Go with your gut.

re: which part to take?

You actually put REAL roles on your resume?!

I like sliding little jokes in, like, I played Elphaba in the second National tour....

It just tells me that they are reading my resume

re: which part to take?

Or put them both. No one will look. Use fancy wording such as "cast as..."
"Have they come yet?"

re: which part to take?

do you usually go out for musicals or plays???
if you find yourself going out for plays more often and want to be considered a play actor and not a musical theater one...i would choose the play. for some reason musical theatre people are sometimes looked down upon in the acting department.

re: which part to take?

Thanks for all the advice!

Another layer to add on:
I've already done YCTIWY, as Essie
YCTIWY is at a University
LW at a regional theatre with great facilities and pays.

So, I guess the question is, good part no pay,
or supporting, pay?

Supporting, pay. re: which part to take?

re: which part to take?

Contradicting what I just said, take Little Women.

re: which part to take?

I'm not familiar with the first show on your list...is it a play? Do you prefer plays or musicals? I would go with the musical...LW.

If your goal is a career as a professional actor, take the one that pays.

re: which part to take?

My school did a production of You Can't Take It With You and half of the audience fell asleep.

I would go with the money re: which part to take?
