jeremy was AMAZING as roger. he was definetly my favorite that night. i've been crazy about the show and him since the first time i've seen it, *last october. i was fortunate enough to see it again yesterday (01/07/04), and it was just as good. "One song glory" was just..wow. im really sad to hear he's leaving RENT, but i still look forward to his next work. just hope he doesnt keep us waiting too long.
i absolutely LOVED jeremy as Roger, but still my favorite Roger is the one and only Adam Pascal. seeing him in that role was amazing and i'm lucky. after adam pascal (out of the actors i have actually seen) i like jeremy the best. i've seen 6 rogers. jeremy DID bring a lot more anger to the role, but it worked and was at appropriate times. if you can go then GO and see jeremy, you won't regret it. and i actually enjoyed drew's mark...but that's just me, and i'm extremely critical of ANYONE who plays mark, it being my favorite broadway role.
im not that big of a fan of rogers either. I seen Rent 9 times on Broadway and 4 times on tour and i think Adam has the best voice but i never saw him. Out of everyone i saw the best person to me was an understudy. I think he jsut wanted it more maybe thats why. sorry forgot his name but is was when Joey fatone was there is anyone can tink of it.
Quick Question.... Who is coming in for Krystal Washington? (glad to see that she changed her headshot after Scary Spice left cause her first one was a little SCRAY)
I wish I could see RENT so badly. Its probably one of the reasons that I want to see the movie so much. I've read the RENT book, listened to the soundtrack and found every clip in existence off the internet but its just not the same as seeing it all. I know what happens and when it happens in the show etc and I know the songs/lyrics but its all in pieces and I cant imagine what its like live and real and together. I REALLY hope I can find a way to see in in person soon instead of trying to imagine it with a pair of headphones on. XD
Hey- I have a random Rent question that isn't worth starting a new thread. At the end of the show, how do things end between Joanne and Maureen?

Manley Pope was roger when Joey Fatone was mark. I hated him period! Also I loved Jeremy as Roger!
Lahey wasn't too bad! Not the greatest but he definatelly wasn't horriable!
I saw Jeremy a couple years ago in AIDA. Personally I think his acting skills leave alot to be desired. He doesn't commit physically to anything and has trouble commiting to the choices he makes as a character. Spotty at best. To be completly honest I think he is far too old to be played Roger still. Rent is starting to suffer the teen movie syndrom of passing of 30 year old's as teens and 20 somethings.
This is all just my opinon though and I am sure it will be ripped apart by a 13 year old Renthead who has no ties to the 90's and the section of life this captured, like some of us.
Carl Magnum i agree with the whole rent commiting to the tenny bopper syndrom. BUt forgetting age, Jeremy was great in my opinion. Drew wasn't bad or good, just ok. I think the show should cast younger and new actors rather than recasting oldder ones who have been in the show way too long.
I saw Rent just before Xmas. Though I really don't care for the musical that much, I was really blown away by the performances of the understudy Karmine Alers as Mimi, Jeremy Kushnier as Roger, Justin Johnston as Angel, and Destan Owens in the role of Tom Collins. Frenchie Davis worked out OK as well but I was a bit troubled by her DIVA turn right after the curtain call at which she rallied the audience to contribute to a campaign to raise funds to purchase clothing/toys for needy children in the NYC area. Really good cause, but she came off as someone grandstanding in a moment that called for a trace of humility IMHO.

Carl Magnum - just so you'll know not all RENTheads are 13. Some of us remember when AYDS was a diet candy and the worst thing you could get was Herpes.
And BTW I saw Jeremy Kushnier in AIDA and RENT and he IS the best thing on the RENT stage!!

I thought Drew Lachey was pretty bad. A really awful Mark. Of course, I had seen the great Andy Meeks less than a month before and Mark is my favorite character so I'm picky... but I thought he was REALLY bad. That's just me, though (I'm sure Scary Spice was worse... but that's a different character, so it doesn't count :P).

Some of the other threads talk about the Rent tour. Many people say the tour cast is better than the broadway cast right now. I haven't seen either. I'm seeing Rent on Broadway in Feb.
Question, I'm going to see Rent with my boyfriend who is not a broadway fan. In fact, this will be his first broadway show. Is this a good show for a skeptical broadway goer to see? Or is it going to scare him away from broadway forever? I had him pick the show we were seeing and he picked Rent, but I'm not sure he knows much about it.
