Taylor Dane as Amneris in Aida bored me to tears. Vocally she was fine, but just not bubbly enough for the role. What's sad is that I am a fan of her music...wanted to love her in the role, but she didn't do it for me.

Actually Mister Matt, Bernadette was not nominated for Into the Woods so there was no competition between she and Joanna. In fact, Bernadette and Joel Grey presented the Best Actress Tony to Joanna which I think was a nice moment.

I've seen a tape of "Rags". It was a beautiful score, somewhat muddy-if heartfelt book, married to probably the ugliest physical production I have EVER seen.


I just think the reviewers just need a high profile show to kill that week.

Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

I could not stand Manley Pope in RENT. I didn't like his voice, and his acting was pretty bad. He was trying WAY too hard to play Roger, and it didn't work. He was my first Roger, and I didn't like him at all.

moljul - I stand corrected. For some reason, I had this mental image of Bernadette being announced as a nominee, but standing offstage during the Tony Broadcast, but my senile old brain is taking advantage of me. It sucks getting old.
